Unexpected Bacon

 We are heading out into the wilderness that surrounds any half way decent airport and then into the leafy suburbs, with equally leafy villas, such as cities develop when they approach middle age.



We’ve not done the weather for a while so let's have a muse.



It is September, on average the 4th warmest of the year. Expect 21oC, although the mean max is 26.5oC and the mean minimum is 11.1oC.  3.5mm of rain may fall on us, and why not.



The average daily temperature begins the year in January with 10oC. It rises a little and by April is 18.9. May sees 23.2oC, June 28.9oC, July 32o.8C and August a mere 32oC.  October falls to 19.7oC, November 13.5oC and December is similar to January.



The highest temperature in Madrid is 40.7oC, hit in June, July and August.  The coldest, -10.1oC, was in January. October is the wettest month, with 64mm of rain.  This compares to London’s 65mm - who would have thought.  Mind you London gets 40-60mm every month.  Madrid doesn’t.



Next door to Club El Estudiante is the Restaurante Jose Luis.  https://joseluis.es/  Two months ago, Ana was very happy. ‘We organised an amazing school graduation party- over 220 people. The service was impeccable, the atmosphere for parents and children was fantastic. Customised party menu was delicious. We got fantastic support from Beatriz throughout the whole organisation process and the event was a massive success! Definitely recommended for adults and children. We chose Jose Luis El Estudiante because we had a great experience also in normal brunch/ lunch and dinner settings with great service quality, atmosphere, facilities, and food. 



Well, its trees, leaves, cycling paths and all that until we get to the Centro comercial El Bulevar.  I think we need a dance school.  The New Classic is a ballet school and we could do with some stretches.  https://thenewclassicballet.com/   Two years ago Pilar was taken with the place. ‘We absolutely love this academy! Besides being decorated with incredible taste, blending design with the elegance of a classic style—when you walk in, you can't tell if you're in a New York theater or a Russian opera house—the teachers are wonderful and the girls adore them :)) And how lucky they are to have a live piano! You don't see that every day. My daughter goes twice a week, but if it were up to her, she'd go every day. And I'm so happy to see her like this (she's developing such a beautiful figure). 100% recommended! 👌🏻 ‘




OK, I wasn’t expecting this.  Nearby is the Francis Bacon Debating Society.  https://www.francisbacondebate.org/  This month they debated ‘"This House believes we should encourage the end of jobs in the age of artificial superintelligence, not resist it." ‘  GBZ got to the heart of it. ‘Fantastic food, wine and service. Jan is an excellent host. The debates were a great way to get to know new people and helped to spark deep and meaningful conversations among a bright crowd of guests. ‘




We end on a roundabout. It has a sculpture - Escultura Veleta.  Tomorrow we continue towards the countryside.

  We are pottering along at 91m but will be a mere two by the day’s end.   We are heading for San Vicente de la Barquera. It is one of those places, on a hostile coast, which provided a safer shelter.  As a consequence it got a castle. The place did the usual having Bronze Age chaps loafing about. The Romans made a small port.  It really got going when Alfonso I sent peoples to populate it in the 8th century. The castle was built, the town followed.  Things really got going in 1210 when Alfonso VIII gave the place a charter.  It got the same privileges as San Sebastian. It's a shame the hooligans and the weather ruined some of the views

  We are heading south and cross the Mu-33 and wandering passed the Hospital Materno-Infantil Virgen de la Arrixaca.  We do not need to visit but who can resist a review?  https://www.murciasalud.es/seccion.php?idsec=347   I am always a bit wary of public institution being reviewed as people feel freer to vent.  It gets 3.4 stars.  About 45% are 5 star and 35% 1 star.  Google gives you four options - so here they are: Most relevant. 10 months ago. Promoting Dignified Leisure

  We are going back to the street and on to the Avenida Salvador Allende.  Squeezed between us and the beach are houses of various shapes and sizes and intentions of construction. Some are tourist apartments like the Casa Tia Antonia.  It gets 4.9 stars from 175 reviews.  It’s LGBTQ+ friendly. Ursula is very impressed.  ‘I've lost count of how many times I've stayed here – it doesn't really matter – but this time, unfortunately, it was only for 14 days in January in El Palo, a district of Malaga, in the enchanting "Aunt Antonia Beach House" apartment. The apartment is on the second floor and perfect for 2-3 people.
