Promoting Dignified Leisure

We are going back to the street and on to the Avenida Salvador Allende.  Squeezed between us and the beach are houses of various shapes and sizes and intentions of construction. Some are tourist apartments like the Casa Tia Antonia.  It gets 4.9 stars from 175 reviews.  It’s LGBTQ+ friendly. Ursula is very impressed.  ‘I've lost count of how many times I've stayed here – it doesn't really matter – but this time, unfortunately, it was only for 14 days in January in El Palo, a district of Malaga, in the enchanting "Aunt Antonia Beach House" apartment. The apartment is on the second floor and perfect for 2-3 people. It's located right on the beach/sea with a fantastic, large terrace overlooking the ocean, furnished with a table, chairs, and sun loungers. Speaking of furnishings: the description and photos on the website are accurate. The living room has a kitchenette including a washing machine, all necessary equipment, dishes, etc., and a TV with access to all German channels (which isn't always a given in Spain). The bedroom has a double bed with a very good mattress and – especially welcome during the winter months – a cozy, warm duvet. Lovely bed linens, towels, etc. – the entire place is furnished with great taste and attention to detail. Naturally, everything is spotlessly clean, very well-maintained, and equipped with everything you need for a pleasant stay. Furthermore, Juan promptly fulfills every wish, is available to answer any questions, and is always reachable. Unlike purely tourist resorts, where blinds are often drawn everywhere during the off-season, and many shops are closed as well, El Palo is bustling with life. The chiringuitos (beach bars) are open and grill fish over open fires right on the beach. Anyone longing for blue skies and sunshine during the dreary winter months (November-March) will find themselves in good hands in Malaga/El Palo. No need to take vitamin D pills; instead, after a stroll along the beach, you can stretch out on a lounger on a beautiful terrace (sun from morning till night) and enjoy life. Since Malaga has a perfectly developed public bus system, you absolutely don't need a car. For just a few cents, the bus will take you from El Palo to the center of Malaga in 15 minutes, and it runs very frequently, so you don't even need to check a timetable. In El Palo there are many supermarkets, well-stocked with everything your heart (or rather, your stomach and palate) desires, and the markets are open until 10 pm! I wish you all a delightful time in this beautiful area, which can be reached from almost all airports in Germany within 3 hours. And since booking is very easy, safe, and reliable directly through the Casa Tia Antonia website, no travel agency is necessary. Ursula Weiner from Karlsruhe’

On we go to the Pena Madridista El Palo.  A pena is a club dedicated to all manner of things. This one is dedicated to the love of Real Madrid. https://www.realmadrid.com/es-ES/el-club/penas-real-madrid  Real created a federation of these groups in 1982. 2018 groups are currently members.  Google translate tells us they are here to ‘promote dignified leisure.’  They have a blog.  http://madridistaelpalo.blogspot.com/  Boqueroneitor reports ‘Fernando and Álvaro are fantastic. Highly recommended, the price and quality are undeniable, the best in El Palo.’.

We are just down from the Indigo Teatro. https://www.indigoteatro.com/  It gets 5 stars from 181 reviews.  Lina, a mere 22 hours ago, said ‘The play offered a complete and wonderful theatrical experience, intelligently and sensitively conceived for both children and adults. From the very first moment, the production captivated the audience with its brisk pace, clear transitions, and dynamic staging, supported by an incredible, creative, and meticulously crafted set design that enriched the story and stimulated the imagination, keeping everyone attentive and enthusiastic from beginning to end.

The performances were outstanding: the actresses demonstrated great energy and expressiveness that resonated with the audience. Each character was perfectly crafted, combining emotion and clarity. The actress's ability to transform and bring to life several completely different characters throughout the play was particularly noteworthy, showcasing impressive versatility and stage presence. The cast's enjoyment on stage was evident, and this was directly transmitted to the audience, allowing both children and adults to become immersed in the story.

The costumes were another major success. Colorful, creative, and functional, they helped define the characters and complement the set design without appearing cluttered. Every detail was carefully considered and in harmony with the tone of the play.

The script was clear, entertaining, and carried a positive message seamlessly integrated into the story without being overly moralistic. The language was accessible to young children and undoubtedly enjoyed by adults as well.

Overall, the play was an example of how to create quality children's theater, combining fun, professionalism, and meaningful content. A labor of love and meticulous care, it left the audience with a smile, a heart full of love, and a desire to return to the theater.’

That’s it. We will end the day about here.
