Efficient Waiters and none of them attends

 Restaurante Moral No Ni Na is our first port of call, mostly for the name, but 4.4 stars from 660 reviews helps.  https://noninarestaurante.es/  I am struggling to find prices on the website so maybe we better just look - albeit 80 people reported a 10-20 euro spend.  Let us go for the key review words.


Russian Salad  Maria.  5 months ago. ‘The food was delicious. And excellent value for money. We ordered the potato salad, which was amazing! As was the presa (stuffed with peppers and served with Pedro Ximénez sauce). The crispy prawns and cuttlefish were also very good. Definitely worth repeating.’

Efficient Waiters.  Francisco 11 months ago. Great atmosphere, very efficient and friendly waiters. There were six of us eating at a busy time, but the quality of the food and the speed of service still impressed us. Excellent value for money. We had the set menu for €12. Highly recommended.

Snails Rica A year ago.   ‘The snails are delicious, and some portions are generous, but others are a bit overcooked. The table service leaves much to be desired; you can order from all three waiters and none of them attends or they simply forget. It's very unprofessional, and they need to improve their attitude because the business is worth it.’


The Guardia Civil are further along the main drag and, like any widely publicly used service, it gets but 3.7 stars from six reviews.   The breakdown is 4, five stars and 2, one star.  Nine years ago Yo Solo said ‘The Civil Guard barracks has good facilities but poor staffing, as on February 9, 2017, at around 5 a.m., a detainee escaped while handcuffed and tied to the wall, calling into question the security of the barracks and the Civil Guard personnel of Los Palacios y Villafranca.   Six years ago Jesus opined ‘Exemplary service and attention... Long live Spain!’


 Do we need a bridal shop? Well, someone does and Essencia Novias gets the full five stars from 78 reviews. It is woman owned, LGBTQ+ friendly and open 10-1.30, 5.30-8pm weekdays and 10-1.30pm on Saturdays.  https://www.essencianovias.com/  Four weeks ago Elia wrote ‘In the end, I didn't get my dress from them, but I'm so grateful for the service I received that I had to leave a review. We are passing the Popular Party HQ.  It got a one, one star, wordless review from Jose.


So we head out of town and along things which may object to be being called Caminos de Servicios, and some are certainly of a better quality. Either way, we will shadow the A-4 and onwards to tomorrow.

  We are pottering along at 91m but will be a mere two by the day’s end.   We are heading for San Vicente de la Barquera. It is one of those places, on a hostile coast, which provided a safer shelter.  As a consequence it got a castle. The place did the usual having Bronze Age chaps loafing about. The Romans made a small port.  It really got going when Alfonso I sent peoples to populate it in the 8th century. The castle was built, the town followed.  Things really got going in 1210 when Alfonso VIII gave the place a charter.  It got the same privileges as San Sebastian.   Pina de Ebro has something for everyone who enjoys the architecture of Spanish pueblos.  It has the tiny lanes, on which houses have been rebuilt for generations without a care for the needs of the modern motorist.  We have the pathways which have been tiled over but once were dirt tracks.  We have the modern suburban developments of low rise houses and 80s hopefully aspiring shacks.  First all, however, we have a park.
