Where has all the water gone? Oh, it's here.

Well.  Wrong turn yesterday if we are to take the cross country route I planned.  Back we go, seeing as the Embalse de Entrepenas is in our way.

Lets do dams.  The origin of this expanse of water was 1929, when the plans to damn the RIver Tagus was made. A plan went to the Ministry of Public Works in 1931.  The whole thing was launched in 1936 and sunk by the Civil War. Post War the plan was revived in 1941, and then begun in 1946. In January 1956 and on 14th July 1958 it was ceremonially opened.

The reservoir covers 3213 squared hectares, contained by a 87m high dam. It creates 37 mw of power  and was responsible for the closure of some sections of the Tajuna railway.

We will stroll passed the during to Duron, pretending we meant to do that, and look in on the Finca de Gaia.  The web link doesn’t work but a month ago Oscar said  ‘Thanks to my girlfriend, we managed to get a room to see the eclipse (it was nearly impossible). It was two unforgettable days thanks to Teresa (the owner). Besides the accommodation and the eclipse, we shared a tachyonic therapy session with her and another couple. Highly recommended. A great find.,  Elena also said ‘Beautiful house, on a very well-maintained estate, perfect for disconnecting, and Teresa's attention was unbeatable, we only stayed one night but we loved it’.

As we approach the viaduct we will pass the zona de bano.  Eight people gave it 3.3 stars. Paula is not one for roughing it.  One star gets you ‘The water temperature is very pleasant, but there's hardly any shade, and it's very muddy. You should wear water shoes, bring an umbrella, chairs, and a table... otherwise, it's not worth it. It's more for fishing than swimming’  Eric followed up with ‘Entrepeñas Reservoir. Ideal for picnics and eating a while; if there are trash cans, please don't throw trash on the ground.’

The Viaducto de Entrepenas gets 25 times more reviews. Two weeks ago Chuma did a ‘siri - show me someone who doesn’t understand how droughts work.’  ‘Last year at this time the reservoir was fuller; a lot of water has been transferred.’   I am distressed at the lack of concentration on the concrete. Tomas let us all down by not looking at the structure.  ‘Clear water in a peaceful place. If you chant : Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rāma Hare Rāma Rāma Rāma Hare Hare , you can be simply happy.’

We will turn north again on the CM-2053 and go near Chillaron del Rey - but not enough to comment on it.
