They have strange things

We are dodging over to the Avenida de Francia and we will pass the Convento de Dominicas de Jesus Y Maria.  https://deliciasmonasticas.es/monasterios/dominicas/convento-de-dominicas-de-jesus-y-maria-toledo/  Queen Juana - she of the Madness - seems to have established the institution. The building is mostly 17th century, however dates back to the 14th. It became a convent in 1601 and remained as such till 1984 when the nuns moved out to somewhere more comfy and the Ministry of Culture to be the Provisional Historical Archive of Toledo.

I clicked on the website’s link to Monastery Products.  Dominican Marzipan costs 50-122 euros in a cake version.  Bitesize marzipan is but 20 euros. Reviews are positive. HS J claimed ‘Whenever I come to Toledo, I stop by here. I don't usually like marzipan because it's too sweet. However, here they're all delicious, especially the marquesita.’   Francisco was more non-food in his two month old review ‘Beautiful convent. The guided tour by the Toledo Consortium was well worth the wait.’

Let us become more base, common and popular and nip over the roundabout to Lidl.  It opens Monday to Saturday from 9am to 10pm.   The most recent review is from Reuben, who knows his stuff. ‘Well, Lidl offers good value for money, and sometimes they look for things they don't have, other times they have strange things, and that's a Lidl. ‘

Out we go into the country .  We are going along one of those roads that time has bypassed and is slowly being encroached on. We are also following a dirt track and it is all a bit of a reason for the question ‘why did Streetview go down here and not some actual roads?’

We are working along side the A-42. It is the Toledo-Madrid motorway that goes 78km and was built in the 1980s as an upgrade to the N-401.

We are leaving Toledo and entering the communality of Bargas. A trinity of urbanizations are acting as sentinels for the road ahead.  We will not linger.

Restaurante Casa Zapico is an Asturian restaurant.  https://restaurantecasazapico.com/  The winter menu would set you back 30 euros and cider is one of the drinks options.  Amparo reckoned this yesterday  ‘Exquisite food, you can tell it's homemade. Generous portions and great value for money. I'd like to highlight Ana's impeccable service and attention; she made sure we had everything we needed and, above all, always had a smile on her face. I highly recommend her.’

We end by a fountain.  Albaricoque reckons it is a three star place - and as the only reviewer, we must treat these words as gospel.  ‘Well, today we were like two-legged dogs—we were so thirsty! Refreshing and delicious.’

Tomorrow - downtown Bargas.
