intermittent rains and dropsy where the winds are from the north and west

 Having taken a wrong turning we are off the road and going somewhere that Streetview has not been so strap yourselves in, it is going to be a bumpy ride.

We are going to edge through Yunclillos.  It is either side of the Guadarrama river and is a quarter of the way from Toledo to Madrid.

Our dear friend the GSH Dictionary gives us a mid 19th century view,  

situated between two hills, through the center of which runs a stream that divides the town; it has a temperate climate , the north and west winds prevail, and intermittent rains and dropsy are common: it has 130 houses ; the town hall, with good granaries for the public storehouse; jail in the same building; school endowed with 1,825 reales from public funds, attended by 55 children of both sexes; parish church (San Andrés) with a curacy of the first rank by ordinary provision. It is supplied with drinking water from a spring within the town and 6 in the vicinity, of medium quality. The land is uneven, suitable for cereals and of good quality; the local roads ; mail is received in Olias by courier three times a week. Products : wheat, barley, chickpeas, lentils, carob beans, oats, alcarceña (a type of bean), vegetables, some wine and a little oil; sheep and pigs are kept, and small game is raised. Population : 125 residents, 558 inhabitants 

Population wise the 819 people who call it home are a little down on the 852 peak of 2011. It did a gentle rise from 558, in 1842, up to a peak of 1017 in 1930 and then down to a low of 547 in 1981. It is a PP sort of a place and the current mayor is Manuel Zamarreno Isabel. We are bit early for the Feast of Our Lady of Health and a lot late for Women’s Cultural Week - which is in May.  St Andrew is there patron so what fun is to be had on 30th November.

Meson El Molino is our first stop. This 4.6 star, 803 reviewed eating gaff opens 10.30am to 7pm every day but Sunday. A week ago Javier was in heaven. A great place to eat; for the price, the food is better than you'd expect. The service is fast and efficient, and above all, there's a young guy, around 20 years old, who displays a level of professionalism that many his age would envy... impressive. A 10/10 place, a 10/10 set menu, and prices that are in line with what Perro Sanchez allows us self-employed workers..’

We will head out of town passed the cemetery.  It has been reviewed. Twice. It averages 4.5 stars.  King Wolf [a bit of psychology going on there] says why.  You judge if he has summed it up.  ‘Small cemetery located on the outskirts of Yunclillos.’ Five stars.

We will end the day just a little distance from our next settlement but near Lucio cebollas’ food processing equipment joint. 4.5 stars is what 31 people gave it,  Cawa declared ‘A good company. Access is from the road, right next to the self-service car wash. I parked right next to the company entrance and stayed there overnight. The location is quiet. There's one large ramp at the back of the building. You approach it, and the office is right down the hall. We need the reference number and the license plate number. Loading took about 40 minutes with a diesel forklift. The coordinates for the entrance are 40.040148, -3.988617.’

And so onwards north towards the end of this leg of our pilgrimage.
