The spectacular tapa of Marticarmen
It is a brief day today. The road is straight and sky big. We may want to put some country and western on. Spell checker suggested Countries and Western. I am inclined to agree. Cowboy hats, reggaeton and a pack up made of salted herring and Swizz Cheese come to mind - mostly because I am writing this far too early, it has been too hot, and I really could do with more sleep.
We passed the Finca Navarredona - an agricultural place with 4 reviews and 2.3 stars. Chat jipiti gave a star and ‘Requena is better.’ Rodri spared three and said ‘beautiful landscapes.’ No words came with the Alex 4 or Juan one. We will never know the truth of any of it.
That’s it until we get to Las Lomas, the Castilian restaurant. We are going to town on this one. 4.1 stars from 588 reviews. The place opens 11.30am to 11,30pm Friday-Sunday and 11.30m - 6.30pm Tuesday to Thursday.
Two days ago Ana said ‘We stopped by on our way and it was a great find. They renovated it relatively recently and it's always quite busy. We stopped on a Sunday around 1:30 pm and sat on the terrace with our dog. The waitress was incredibly attentive; they even brought water for our dog. The food is delicious, quick, and very well prepared. The portions are generous, and the salads are fantastic. The prices are a bit high, but they reflect the quality of the food and the fact that it's a weekend. Perhaps they have more affordable set menus on weekdays. We will definitely be stopping here every time we travel from now on. Thank you!
Pedro’s three stars seem to be the thoughts of a chap who knows he has five stars and will use the whole range. ‘Pleasant place, the food was good. We ordered a scrambled egg dish with garlic shoots as a starter, which was passable. For our main courses, for 5 euros more than the regular menu price, we had sole, which was good, and pork tenderloin, which was quite good. The desserts were average. It's fine for a quick stopover on the set menu; I can't comment on the à la carte menu, but we'll see if we come back another day.
Fran was a happy five. ‘A secluded spot in the Toledo countryside, a beautiful place. I stopped for a bite at 5:30 pm and was served by Maricarmen and Cristina, two very friendly girls who, even though they had already finished lunch service and were cleaning up, greeted me with a smile. Maricarmen prepared a spectacular tapa of garden tomato capraccio with anchovies, not on the menu, but made with love. A real treat! See you soon! ‘
