Eternal certainties and moveable feasts... of carp.

We are on one of those avenues out of town, houses, parks, industrial and commercial concerns slowly fading into the bleached fields and long road to Toledo.

We have will pass one of those art works which the Spanish pleasing decide to put on their roundabouts. The Escultura ‘Ante Rocin’ has no Goggle reviews.  I have found a website.  https://esculturayarte.com/010472/Ante-Rocin-en-Ciudad-Real.html   I learn Manuel Hidalgo Castaño  made it.  Here is an article about him and Ciudad Real. https://www.miciudadreal.es/2024/02/16/ciudad-real-los-aromas-de-manuel-hidalgo-llegan-al-lopez-villasenor/

We are passing an Orthodox Church - which is a thing.  And it has a Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/ParohiaSfantaMucenitaTatiana/  It posts things. The three reviews are five star and unworded.

We are heading north and the satellite looks like either a world of roundabouts and byways were planned, maybe constructed, and then abandoned. My Spanish isn’t up to a deep dive on this one so let us imagine it where Atlantis really was and all that nonsense about being drowned was made up by a Diving Company in the hopes it would create a demand for underwater holidays.

We end the day at the Embalse de El Vicario - whose wiki page, only in Spanish, is very disappointing.  https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embalse_de_El_Vicario

Nearby is the old and crumbling road bridge over the once fordable river.  The Puente de Nolaya gets four reviews and 3.8 stars.  This is an unhappy world.

Rodrigo said ‘It's unfortunate that such a beautiful building is abandoned like this, slowly crumbling. Elsewhere, monuments and historic buildings are being preserved, cleaned, and restored. In this area, not a single stone will be left standing.

BogWorld lamented ‘Ten years ago this was full of water, there were huge carp, what a shame. ‘  He also included a picture of him with a huge carp. The carp’s opinions are not shared.

Tomorrow is another day and another day closer to Toledo.
