More decadent than Morecambe

We will get lost today and double back on ourselves but, to be honest, who can blame us. Cordoba is a mass of tiny alley ways, with barely existing spaces squeezed in between all the houses. It is glorious and confusing and the confusion is glorious.

First we will go to the Salon de Te, which conjures up images of North African sophistication and, maybe just an edge of decadence as opposed to Tea Room, which invokes a wet February in Morecambe, rain lashing down but hope reviving through mugs of steaming brew and a moderately priced bun.  I’m sure Morecambe does decadence too, but of a more homely sort.

This halal restaurant has impressed the likes of Evangelos who wrote, four months ago, ‘We did not only enjoyed the tea but also the food. The chicken with couscous is really nice and also the chicken shawarma. Don’t forget to try the baklava and the chocolates. The staff is really nice. The price of each portion is about 18.5€ (which is a bit expensive for me). ‘

Suha added ‘We came here twice for breakfast and loved how refreshing and tasty everything was. Interior is so beautiful! I loved the lentil soup, and got it both days.’

We are walking passed the Palacio de los Fernandez de Mesa , of which Jose Antonio, ‘A true historical treasure in the heart of Córdoba. We will turn off our path to get to the Archaeological Museum.  It is open 9am - 9am Tuesday to Saturday, but closes at 3pm on Sunday.  https://www.museosdeandalucia.es/web/museoarqueologicodecordoba  The website gives a hint of the treasures to be seen.  37 minutes ago - and as I’m writing this at 9.57am Spanish time Ignacio was either in early or is bubbling still from yesterday ‘Excellent museum, incredible pieces from the Paleolithic era to the Mozarabic period, with a visit included to the remains of the Roman theater, all free.’

Patty summed it up nicely. ‘Wonderfully curated museum featuring the archeological history of Córdoba and the surrounding area. Only 1.50 to enter. The tour starts upstairs and follows the history from Roman times. It's ends with a walk through the excavated theatre on site. There is currently a special exhibition on mosaics as well. A fantastic way to spend some time in Córdoba. ‘

We are going to wind our way back to the Calle de San Fernando but first check in to the two star Pension El Portillo.  https://www.pensionelportillo.com/  According to the Bluepillow website two people could stay tonight for £26.  Gerald  recloned ‘I stayed for 3 nights, overall a pleasent stay.
