A perfect 1 in a land of red

Happy St James the Greater day.  St James led a reasonably quiet life as far as historical noise is concerned until he began to follow Jesus.  Sometime in the early Medieval sources decided that he had it that he actually came to Spain and was killed for his pains in 44CE.  Thus we have our patron saint’s day and next year is one of the special ones.

Ahead of us is the municipality of Villafranca de Cordoba.  Almost 5000 people felt this was the place to live, Francisco Palomares Sanchez was just the right chap to have as mayor and Saint Isidore the Farmer would do as patron saint.   It has its usual prehistoric dwellers, Romans and the like. Pedro I of Castile moved new people in the 14th century.  From 1842 about 3-5,000 people made it home. It has been a PSOE stronghold since 1983 but between 1979 and 1983 the Communists held sway.

Let us wander through the town and to the Bar Restaurante Parque de las Cespedillas. It gets 4.3 stars and will do you a paella if you want one  https://turismovillafrancadecordoba.es/bar-restaurante-parque-de-las-cespedillas/  I feel Fernando’s remarks have been rendered amusing by Google Translate.  ‘The ham and fried egg slippers are delicious!’  Rosario was equally impressed.  ‘We celebrated a christening there and everything was wonderful—the food, the service, and the lovely park where the children could play safely without any traffic. We'll definitely be back because it's one of those places where you feel right at home.

The local medical Consultorio us unique in my experience in having 11 reviews and all of them 1 star. Now, this is over nine years and they all say no one answers the phone, although one says the number given is not correct - so this may be a clue.  Ten months ago Juanna said ‘They NEVER answer the phone. The woman at reception is awful at her job; she's never in a hurry, and to pick something up at the counter or to make an appointment, you have to wait in line for hours. This woman used to work at the Bujalance Medical Center, and a few years ago they transferred her here because they didn't want her there...because she doesn't do her job properly...and since we don't complain, that's how it goes. In short, this woman's management in Villafranca de Córdoba is a complete disaster! ‘

If that will not do, down the road is the Tu Mejor Version vitamin and supplement shop. Please go there and be the first person to review it.

Out of town we go and into tomorrow.
