The Flat White Minimalist Vibe

What now seems to have been the Stone Age - although I am sure metal working had been developed by then, either way I was youngish and in love and was meeting my best beloved at Euston Station.  Having got to London earlier I choose to go to the Imperial War Museum - which had shrunk since when I had visited as a youth.  I then decided to walk across London to Euston. It surprised me how short the walk was across the heart of the city was. Of course I missed so much and these three days in central Seville feel the same.

Through the narrow streets we wander and passed the Discoteca Monasterio Sevilla.  It has 999 reviews.  Go on, be the thousandth.   https://monasteriosevilla.es/  According to the website ‘Monasterio is a landmark of Seville’s nightlife. Located right in the city centre, we combine great music, a friendly atmosphere and professional service. Our goal is to offer unique experiences, where every visit becomes a special memory for those seeking fun, quality and authenticity on a night out. ‘  According to Pablo [2 stars] ‘It's just a regular nightclub. Lately, the DJs have been ruining it because they don't play good music; they barely play any worthwhile music. It's gone downhill a lot since they "privatized" the upstairs area and now have it deliberately closed off. Before, you could go upstairs and there was a bar; it was almost deserted, and you could relax. They've also ruined it by moving, I suppose, the upstairs bar to the back of the club. Every time I go in with my drink ticket, I have to go to the very back of the club, through the crowd, just to order something. The club has gone downhill drastically compared to how I knew it years ago. ‘  I urge you to go there and find out for yourself.

Up the road is LATE - which is, according to Google a speciality coffee and co working espresso bar.   Among the top review words are minimalist design and flat white. Salmon Toast is also there came along so we will look at it. Estefano said ‘The coffee is very good. I love specialty coffees, and this one is definitely a must-try. The toast was good. We ordered the avocado and tomato one and another with salmon. The avocado and tomato one was better. The service was just okay. And it would be good if they limited the use of laptops at tables without ordering anything.

We are hitting  square and it has trees and the Hercules Columns. The visitasevilla.es website claims this is the oldest park in Europe - with a Soho vibe.  The site says ‘Such is the artistic torrent that pulsates in the Alameda that it will surely encourage your most creative and, why not, most transgressive side. This is something that is very present throughout this neighbourhood. Without going any further, world music legends such as Jesús de la Rosa, leader of the legendary group Triana, have been forged in its vicinity.’  Five month ago Sergio wrote ‘The Pillars of Hercules are an iconic symbol of Seville, standing at the heart of the historic Alameda de Hércules. This monument, located in the city center, represents the classical mythology associated with the founding of Hispalis (Seville). The original Roman columns, crowned with statues of Hercules and Julius Caesar, are a unique testament to the city's ancient past. The area has become a vibrant cultural and social hub, a must-see for anyone wanting to understand Seville's millennia-old history and its connection to antiquity.

Las Columnas is a nearby tapas bar and so we have to pop in. It has 7302 reviews and 4.1 stars.  https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100071746060761  The last facebook post was 23rd December 2015.  More recently, an hour ago, Mel wrote in Dutch an hour ago.  ‘Settled down in the early morning for a cup of coffee. A delicious cup, friendly staff, and full of Spaniards. That evening it was packed with Spaniards again, and they did their best to squeeze us in. Then we had some tapas. The tapas were also very good, real Spanish tapas.

We are heading north-west and crossing the river on the Puente de la Barqueta.  4017 people felt this was a bridge worthy of comment, It was erected in 1992.  A year ago Adam wasn’t impressed. ‘Nothing spectacular really. The bridge itself can be interesting from the engineering point of view and it ages not too bad. The area around it has so much potential though. I wish they had invested some money in renovating the river side around this bridge, or between this bridge and the city centre.

Across the road is Isla Magica.   https://www.islamagica.es/  is a water / rides park - with pirates. It looks fun.  Recent reviews suggest that a bit of maintenance is required. A day ago Pablo said ‘It's a small park, but full of magic, with lots of greenery, very fun attractions and shows, and a magic water feature that keeps getting better. The only downside is that sometimes some attractions are broken, especially the Potoci, one of the best.

So, we end outside the island and thinking of the future.
