Parklife and the focused place of rest
We are starting by the Tablao Flamenco El Palacio Andaluz so we might as well pop in. https://elflamencoensevilla.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=GMB&utm_campaign=perfil_google&utm_id=Perfil It has been here since 1995 and for 90 euros you can have an hour and a half show and dinner. 57 euros gets you the show, truffles and champagne. Flamenco only is 36 euros. Shows are at 7pm and 9.30pm.
What says the 4k+ reviewers. The newest was 13 hours ago and Nico said ‘Marvelous !! Dinner and show was great ‘ The top was from Addy, 2 months ago ‘The service was excellent and the drinks kept flowing. It was a four-course meal starting with a cheese and jamón platter, followed by a salad, then salmon with vegetables. The main course was pork cheek in a rich sauce, and dessert was a chocolate torte with what I believe was lemon sorbet. Throughout the entire dinner, there were live flamenco performances, which made the experience really special. The food was delicious overall — the only small suggestion would be pairing the dessert with vanilla ice cream instead of lemon sorbet, as the lemon was a bit strong. Still, a very enjoyable experience. I was asked what drink would I like to pair with the dessert and I got Bailey’s, sweet wine, and you can even get whiskey. Also worth noting, there’s a front section near the stage where guests without the meal package can still enjoy the show, and it appeared they were also served drinks.’ The worst was Nicky’s from 7 months ago. ‘Fantastic dance but audience noisy & constantly on their phones recording & taking pics. Cameras blocking view & the light from them. Totally selfish & people not living the moment. An insult to the performance. Then the constant clatter of tableware & those eating chatting. There should be a blanket ban of individuals using devices in a theatre. Also phones going off texts & ringing; what a frustrating experience as I couldn't see much of it! An official photographer was already going around getting in the way, but understandable. Sort this out please, make announcements & stop people ruining it for others!
We are riverside and passing the Barcelo Sevilla Renacimiento. This looks like the Barcelo Sevilla Reenactment. I imagined tired looking generic barbarians and badly attired Romans but Renacimiento means Renaissance - so we are all the better for knowing that. Www.Barcelo.com is a 5-star hotel and we deserve it. Two hours ago Roberto was precisely impressed. ‘A good, huge hotel, but don't expect it to be a cozy or family-friendly hotel as it is designed for conventions and meetings. It has many function rooms, a heated pool, two à la carte restaurants, and a very good breakfast buffet. The room is comfortable and pleasant. ‘
Onto the Parque del Alamillo. https://www.juntadeandalucia.es/avra/parque-alamillo Twenty-one hours ago Maria Jesus gave three stars and proclaimed ‘A beautiful park in the middle of an urban setting, but VERY neglected. It's a shame and regrettable.’ Mauro also gave three stars ‘It probably doesn't deserve this description, but I only saw it on the day of the Copa del Rey final. No shops, no signs, no water fountains, nowhere to take shelter. Completely littered, poorly maintained, and utterly neglected. ‘ For reference Real Sociedad de San Sebastian beat Atletico Madrid 4-3 on penalties.
In the park is the Cortijo del Alamillo. This is an events venue of the whitewashed and tiled variety. Antonio gave it four stars two weeks ago. ‘Located in the heart of Alamillo Park, a venue that hosts concerts and events, especially in the summer, it should be open year-round. Talks and lectures are held there from time to time, often very interesting, and some associations, like Astronomía Sevilla, also give presentations. It should be a more widely used space, as it has great potential. Highly recommended.’
And so we say farewell to Seville - but we will be back. Should we all go together?
