An anonymous railway disco thing
We are heading north, mostly because the only way across the river is the A-7 and we can’t go there. So, it is around the straight roads, ready for development, and under the motorway and into Taraguilla.
Taraguilla is place in need of some love. English wiki notes its population in 2009 [3057] and the description is almost entirely based on the roads around it. They do get the chance to write ‘eponymous railway station’ - which is something. To be honest the Spanish page is not much better.
We are about to follow the railway, with the somewhat harassed looking buildings you get in these locations. Asador Tanger offers us a welcome break. 102 people felt 4 stars was the rating this needed. Four years ago Peter said ‘Squeezed between shops sits this food establishment. Not a lot of english spoken but friendly and you get your order in the end. The important thing to note is that this is the only roast chicken shop I have found , here or in Gibraltar that doesn't give me cause for regret the day after. It is popular so get there early 12.30 or so unless you are confident phoning an order in spanish. A regular of mine.’
On to the eponymous railway station. Like all stations and public buildings people don’t tend to review when happy. 37 people gave me 3.6 stars. David, five years ago, reckoned three stars were enough. ‘The station only has two platforms, so you won't have a problem finding your train! Watch out that it isn't in either San Roque or La Linea, but in another village called San Roque Estacion. Four M-121 buses link it with La Linea daily Monday-Friday. But I travelled on a Saturday! So i took the M-120 bus towards Algericas, got off at the Cruce de Taraguilla stop (€1.50) and walked a kilometre and a half to the station.’
Looking at the current Departure Board you can get trains to Antequera AV at 5.46am and then every couple of hours.
I accidentally clicked on Abuela Vitoria when doing the pictures for this and so we are going to nip in. Google describes it as ‘Meal Delivery’ and 85 people go for a pure four stars. https://abuelavitoria.com/ The web opens with ‘Are you hungry?’ Yes. Yes I am. I normally write these between 6.30 and 8.00 pm, so I am waiting for food write now. The double burger isn’t doing it for me but the traditional nachos may be a thing to spend nine euros on.The most recent review is three months old and Ana was happy. ‘The best burgers I've ever had!! They're delicious. I order them quite often and I've tried almost all of them; I couldn't say which one is the best.’
I am intrigued by La Muss Disco. It looks like an elderly single story cottage - with only one window, a narrow door and a small, barred, window. No reviews, no links. I went for a delve. Discotecas Espana website tells me it is open 11pm to 6am at weekends and 11pm till 5am on Thursday and Friday. I remain unconvinced.
Onwards tomorrow.
