We are heading out of town. This will be achieved by heading out to the sea and then along the coast. Slowly the city will disappear and we will get to the Guadahorce and turn inland to cross it.
Amongst the great and the good who have come from Malaga are Pablo Picasso, Antonio Banderas and Luis Bolin. Solomon ibn Gabirol, poet and philosopher, was born about 1021. Prime Minister Antonio Canovas del Castillo in 1828 and flamenco guitarist Pepe Romero in 1944.
Down we go, along the Alameda de Colon to the Monumento de Manuel Aguston Heredia. He is not the Marques de Heredia - despite what Google says. He was born in Rabanera de Cameros but moved to Malaga when he was 15. Apparently he traded nuts, wine and graphite ore from Gibraltar during the Napoleonic Wars. He got involved in diverse industrial projects in the 20s - especially iron related stuff. By 1840 he was the leading ironman in Spain, owned two soap factories and 18 merchant ships. In 1844 72% of Spain’s iron was coming from the province of Malaga. He died in 1846.
Along the front we will go. The businesses will become less self important as we go. That might be a cruel thing to say and if someone will pay for me to visit Malaga I will write differently.
The Chiringuito La Pacheca Huelin is a restaurant of 1176 reviews and a perfect 4 stars. It’s key words are espeto, beach, sardines, european anchovy and raciones. Let us drop down to the 8th word, which is pescado frito. There were two reviews. One star and five stars. You make up your own minds.
Anonimo 5 years ago. ‘Terrible. We ordered espeto (fish skewers) that never arrived, fish fried in oil that was more than fried. When you go to pay, they say it doesn't have a dataphone, that it's broken, a lie! A perfect scam for black money, paying in cash, since it was the third time they said it was broken. When we told them what would happen if we didn't have cash, the response was, "It doesn't matter, you leave something of yours as a deposit while you bring the money!" Is this a serious business? I'll never come back.’
Rafael 2 years ago. ‘I went on Saturday night and surprisingly, my partner and I were amazed, given that, apart from the delicious Malagan fish, there was a musical group entertaining those of us who were dining there... a wonderful experience ☝️’
We end going on inland along the Avenida Imperio Argentina.
