May fortune bring you the left footed dog of happiness - because owls are bastards.

Whoops!  Ok, turn round and back up the track.  We are going up a bit, down a bit and up a lot more. It is a descent track and we don’t have a lot to look at, save beautiful nature, so let’s get superstitious in a nature sort of a way.

Owls.  Well, it is day time but we can note Granada has Eurasian Scops-Owls, Eurasian Eagle-Owls, Little Owls, Tawny Owls, Eared Owls of both Long and Short varieties.  Owls are symbols of wisdom or mystery. An owl hooting at night foretells death or serious misfortune.  If an owl stares at your house someone will become ill.  Clearly owls are bastards.

We don’t have a dog with us. This may be a shame but it does mean we are safe from the random nature of dog-luck.  Fido, apparently, is able to issue fortune from its bum.  Should you tread on doggy doos with with your left foot then luck will be your lady tonight.  If, however, you place your left shoe forward you will be literally in the shit.

While we are thinking of pets, bad news for cats in Spain. They only get seven, not nine lives

We will end with cacti.  These plants can see off evil influences if placed on your window sill.

We have got to the Mirador de Las Veguillas.   35 people took the time to review it and generally they say nice things, in a 4.7 stars way. Four months ago Jose said ‘Good views and a good place to rest and then continue the route.’   Kike loved it.  ‘My experience was fantastic. I'm a photographer and went there at night to do astrophotography. A place far from the noise and with a wide variety of flora and fauna.’  Alas we are here in the spring because Yolanda says ‘A must-see place to see the colors of autumn.’

We end near a heliport.  INFOCA CEDEFO Puerto Lobo. Bomberos Forestales Andalucía is ready to fight forest fires.   A year ago Gorka was thankful. ‘Thank you for today's visit from a student at IES Aljanadic. Thank you for the information; it will be very useful for some students as they plan their path to becoming forest firefighters, and for others of us as we continue our studies.’   Jose only gave one star and doesn’t say why.

Tomorrow, we continue to edge towards Granada.
