We are off on the RM-D5 today.  We will see polytunnels, bins, rugged landscapes and, at the end, letter boxes.  Better do to some fillers.

Before that, we will pass one bar. It is the Bar Pastrana.  They do 6.30am to 8pm, but not Mondays.  I mean, Mondays. Its key words are tapas, sunset, price, flat roof and very good.  Fernando was much taken last Spring.

‘A fantastic place, awarded the "The Sun from Rise to Set" award, with a spacious terrace, spectacular private rooms, home-cooked meals, affordable menus, grilled meats, paellas, and top-notch service. Young, friendly, dynamic, professional, and above all, family-oriented people. Just like your home. Don't worry, just make your own arrangements, and enjoy a spectacular day with us.

OH! AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE PARKING, 300 SPACES, AND IT'S FREE.’

Rene have four stars.  ‘Nice, authentic Spanish tapas bar, very friendly people and delicious tomato/pepper salad with plenty of garlic.’

So, onto the fillers.  Post Office.  One of those little moments of difference was to find the in-laws had a post box in town because it meant the mail go to them quicker than waiting for it to go to the village.

Can I say, when I went looking for the History of the Post Office in Spain the search engine offered me a Facebook Post on the location of the Post Office in Spain and a wiki article with these issues.

I am much taken with the fact some self appointed guardian of knowledge thundered out for truth to be curated and a decade later no one has done a thing about it.

The Correos [Post Office] was founded in 1716 - when the Bourbons took the post from various ancient families and set up their own organisation. This jogged along until 1756 - when only specially trained posties were employed.  In 1850, they discovered postage stamps.  If you are in to historic logos, here is some.  https://logos-world.net/correos-logo/    In 1981 they got postcodes.  Today they have 12,000 branches, employ 55,000 people, and the number of annual shipments is almost 6 billion.

That’s it.  Use this knowledge wisely and remember, it is only a couple of weeks till Shrove Tuesday - mind you, the next holiday in Murcia is Maundy Thursday.
