Naked Wolves and protected habitats
It is going to a day full of beach reviews today so if sand and rock are not your things then maybe go for an improving walk; edit the things you have ‘saved’ to look at later, even if you know you never will or just listen to some light jazz classics. The Isla de Cueva de Lobos is not really going to offer and light relief.
I went looking for the isla and the nearest I got was this ‘https://www.turismoregiondemurcia.es/es/playa/playa-cueva-de-lobos-643/ It says Informacion ‘Playa virgen con excelentes vistas.’ Mindtrip ai does its best to make something out of very little. ‘Isla Cueva de Lobos is a captivating natural island located off the coast of Bolnuevo. Renowned for its stunning landscapes, it offers visitors breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea. The island's rugged cliffs and crystal-clear waters make it a popular spot for kayaking and snorkeling. Its unique geological formations create an inviting environment for exploration. Although it is not inhabited, the island is often frequented by nature enthusiasts and photographers’
The European Environment Agency tells us it was put under the Birds Directive in March 2001. It is 28.26 hectares. It protects 4 species of the Nature Directives and 5 habitat types.
The beach ‘Playa Cueva de Lobos gets 4.4 from 222 ratings. Marc wrote, five months ago, ‘Very beautiful beach, pretty cove, easy swimming (maybe bathing shoes) access on foot can be tedious with children, nudity is more or less respected for the most part. Far too many single men who have other interests, it can quickly become tiresome, even heavy’ Beatriz noted ‘You have to leave your car about a 20-minute walk away, but it's worth it.’ Mathilde gave it one star, because it was a nudist beach.
Over the headland is Cala Leno. It is a 4.5 star place. I wonder what makes it 0.1 star better? Marc had ‘spiritually’ come with us on our journey. He wrote ‘The photos do not correspond to reality, the beach is a collection of seaweed and garbage, it is really not maintained or respected, it is a waste’. Miquel wrote ‘A beautiful, calm, uncrowded cove with clean, crystal-clear water. If there's been a storm, it's usually covered in seaweed. Access is after a half-hour walk. Small parking lot.’
Our final beach is Playa del Hondon del Fondo. It only has 23 people reviewing it but it gets 4.9 stars. Aroa showed low cunning with this five-starer two months ago. ‘I'd say it's a horrible cove just so it doesn't get crowded, but I have to say it's beautiful, with crystal-clear water. Access is a bit tricky (stone path, several potholes, etc.). A small car might find it more difficult. Nudism is common here. It's great for putting on your diving goggles and exploring and enjoying the seabed. It's an unsupervised cove, so you always have to be careful. As I said, it's a horrible cove.’
MR added this advice ‘Very quiet. Nudism is practiced privately. It's best to leave your car up front before heading down to the beach, as the road is somewhat difficult.’
Tomorrow, more human construction.
