Like God with Adam, we will take the ribs

Yesterday I did an unforgivable thing.  I mentioned ‘Forest of Books’ and did not pursue this. I know you. Well, I know some of you.  And the you I know will have spent a night in torment wondering what is this. I have images of great buildings full of books. Possibly concrete structures in town squares with ready tomes and papery ecstasy available wherever you turn. I think that would be nice.  Naming streets after Sherlock Holmes is  a step forward. The promised theatrical performances and workshops sound promising so lets hope.

We are off on the A-330. It is one of those Spanish roads which have been bypassed by a motorway but has been straightened, cut and made fit for purpose.  We are going along, through the scrub, our way marked by suddenly groupings of industry. For example, Fran Electronic will repair vehicles.  A year ago Milagros said ‘Good service, kindness, professionalism and excellent work.’

Nearby is Jolotrae.  They repair vehicles as well.  Five, five star reviews but not a single word amongst them.

Down the road a bit Embutidos y Jamones Dona Carmen is carniceria for us.  https://embutidosdonacarmen.com/  4.6 stars from 51 reviews tells a story.  Four days ago Francisco was clearly happy. ‘Great service...excellent products...top-notch…’  A year ago Margarita was equally impressed. ‘Delicious sausages!! Black pudding, chorizo, stuffing, grandma's sausage, Easter sausage, ham, all delicious and well-priced. They are amazing! 10/10, friendly and trustworthy. 💃💃 …’

We end the day in Venta del Peral. It doesn’t really exist. Well, it does, but all the top hits are about the motorway service station or pointing out it is a hamlet of greater Cullar.  The town hall of Cullar has a web page dedicated to this demiparadise.   http://www.cullar.es/pedanias-o-anejos/venta-del-peral/  They reckon it is Roman in origin.

We can nip into a bar first. Los Trillizos has 3.7 stars and 444 reviews.  The most recent two reviews are not encouraging.    SFsquad71 said ‘Don't go hungry...you'll end up worse off.  Rocio felt ‘I don't understand why a village bar, far from everything, would charge us 12.20 euros for two coffees and two slices of toast (one was medium!)! On top of that, the bread was stale and the coffee terrible. I'll never go back.’  Ulises was more positive. ‘A very good experience! Homemade Andalusian food, very good service, we'll be back 👏🏼 …

Ok, we’ll end in the service station. 2033 reviews and 3.9 stars for service area
hen in doubt take the Spare Ribs.’  Despite five stars, Tanketo said ‘Poorly signposted towards Granada, they confuse you about the exit and you end up going towards Murcia.’

Well, we will wander on but head towards Granada.
