The water that empowers or moistens
It is a brave new world in a brave new year - and we have a Candlemas Bun for the 2008-2023 variety soon on the journey. Meanwhile, café first, then Murcia.

Dmitry is not entirely focused on the food. ‘Thank you so much for your hospitality and for allowing me to stay at your home during my amazing VeloLiberty bike tour from Warsaw to Portugal. After traveling through 14 countries and over 8,500 kilometers, it has been a great pleasure to meet so many wonderful people and see so many amazing places along my route. I wish you much success and I trust that, on the eighth cycling tour, your place will be especially recognized as a stop for cyclists who want to have a snack or enjoy a coffee with you.’
We are in the province of Murcia. It is 11,314km2 in size [being the 9th in size in Spain] and has 1.5 million inhabitants, about a third of whom live in Murcia city. That makes it the 10th most settled place in Spain. No one knows what it is called Murcia. Some suggest it could be related to a minor Roman Goddess. Others suggest it is from the Iberian language and means ‘the water that empowers or moistens’
The name, Murcia, is noted in the Taifa of Murcia - an Arab kingdom in the 11th-13th century. Between 1243 and 1266 the Crown of Castile invaded and renamed the place as the Kingdom of Murcia.
Towards the end of the day we will cross the clen and lovely Rio Segura. The bridge has 10 reviews and gets 3.8 stars. Maria gives it a wordy coverage.
‘This bridge is very useful for residents who cross daily by car, motorcycle, etc. It has no arches. The beautiful bridge with arches is in the city of Murcia, called the "Puente de los Peligros" (Bridge of Dangers), and you can walk underneath it, surrounded by flowering trees. However, this bridge in Llano de Brujas doesn't have a path underneath, but rather above it, where the new path designed for pedestrians and cyclists runs from Murcia to Alquerias or beyond.
We will end the day thusly.
