Summer Breeze.....

I am tempted, as this will go out at the end of January, to just let the views of the azure sea do the talking today and cheer us up in our northern halls.  These scenes are from July & September 2025 - with a 2009 Candlemas Bun thrown in for good measure.

We start the day in Isla Plana.  In 2013 it had 980 souls, half of whom were not of Spanish soil born. I would like to tell you more but even the Spanish wiki page is brief. The island translate as Flat Island, but has little similarity to Flat Holm.  The beach gets 4.6 stars and we are in a bit of a low rise mountains behind us sort of place.  Three months ago Jillian wrote ‘Isla plana is the best and this beach is worth a visit. Walk in slope. Excellent for children and reduced mobility. Sand with no stones and excellent beach bars. Aloha chiringuito offer excellent food.’

In July, which is after all pride month, the Anchor Cafeteria was flying the flag. It is an 8am to 11pm kind of place, cept on sundays when it closes at 4pm and Mondays, when it closed all day. Paul was impressed ‘We had a fantastic Friday night. Great bar, friendly service, a good selection of drinks including local wines. The band of local musicians was amazing, they played for over three hours and got people dancing from the first song. By the end of the night the whole bar was having a party.’

We are wandering by the Cueva del Agua. Lisa sums it up ‘Really pretty cave to visit. Going in and swimming is at your own risk. The steps are uneven, large and dangerous, so be careful.’   Yps added ‘It's a great find. Even if you do not dive, it is worth the visit. Our dog loved it too. The stairs are steep, but we even managed to go down wearing flip flops. Bring a flash light brighter than the flashlight in your phone and you will be able to go a little bit deeper into the cave.’

We end the day mooching into Puerto de Mazaroon.  The Concierto Sentido Restaurante has over 1350 reviews and 4.4 stars. It to is LGBTQ+ friendly. The key words appear to be Artichokes. Croquettes, Octopus, Sardines and john dory.   Eight hours ago Kay wrote ‘We dinned a lunch time . We opted for the fish special menu every thing was cooked to perfection and was so tasty especially the octopus and the sardines, would highly recommend and will return when we are in the area again’.  A week ago Christophe felt ‘We just arrived and are staying in Mazarron. We're the French couple who arrived at 1 p.m. on Sunday. What a welcome! The owner is a gem of a person who immediately makes you feel at ease. He gives good advice and doesn't push you to buy anything. The oysters were divine, slightly milky just the way we like them, and the turbot was absolutely fresh that day. For our first visit, we can only say thank you.’

So the day ends.
