I can't comment because I haven't visited the place

We are heading for Cartagena. We won’t get there today but I think we can do a bit of History before we get there.  The first evidence is settlement is a bit of early representative of the Homo genus, who hung out round Cueva Victoria. Neanderthals preferred a different cave and the Paleolithics did there thing as well.

The Carthaginian general, Hasdrubal, refounded the city in 227BC. The Romans took the place in 209BC and the place was renamed Carthago Nova. So it pottered on till 409AD when the Vandals turned up and did their thing.  The Vandals were replaced by Visigoths, the Byzantines arrived in 551AD and hung around till 624AD. The Early Middle Ages did not treat the place well. When the Muslims turned up in 714AD the place was barely bigger than a fishing village.  The Castillians turned up in 1245 and the place was incorporated into the expanding Northern kingdom.  We will end in 1643, when a Battle took place between the Spanish and French.  The French had 20 galleons, 2 frigates and 12 fire ships. The Spanish 29 galleons and 14 galleys.  The French pounced, sank two galleons and captured two.  Eight more Spanish hips were battered and local boys stayed in Cartagena for a year.

Back on the road.  New Gallery is a 3.9 star sort of a place.  It seems to open 7am till 11.29am everyday but Saturday 8am to 4am amd Sunday 10am to 2am. The top review words are ‘environment’, ‘cup with stem’, ‘price’, ‘singing’ and ‘terrace.’  A month ago Alejandro said ‘It's very comfortable on the terrace, very well-kept place, very attentive service, good music, customer service, a 10.’    franmk1 showed willing ‘I can't comment because I haven't visited the place when I visit I will give stars’

We Candlemas Bun where we turn left - a roundabout in 2025, none in 2012.

Off we go down the road.  Mostly it is countryside so enjoy the view. We will near El Paraiso. A feel, as names go, the promise is much. It delivers 4.4 stars. It is LGBTQ+ friendly and has a website.  https://elparaisocelebraciones.es/  Apparently it is a big place for weddings and first communions.  Three weeks ago mariajo wrote Two days ago, a group of about 50 people had dinner there, and everything was fantastic.

The terrace for the reception and the dining room were very well-organized, with good lighting and piped music, perfect for entertaining and maintaining conversations among the people at the table.

The menu was excellent, with well-chosen dishes and generous portions. The time between courses was very well managed, both in the kitchen and in the dining room. The dining room staff were top-notch, professional, attentive, and polite, always on hand to ensure everyone was taken care of. The timing and service were very well-managed. Congratulations.  Highly recommended and we will return.

We will enter the big city tomorrow.
