Los Locos on the Border

 We are here, on the Feast of Holy Innocents.  As indicated last year, this is the day Spanish April’s Fools, with the merriment that brings  As we are near the Valencian - Murcian border it seems the time to mention in Jalance they celebrate Los Locos.  The town is ruled by the mayor of the lunatics.  In Nogalte, Murica, they have lots of dancing and singing.


Back to the road. It is one of those roads with lots of edge businesses/  This being the road from which streets wander off with greater and lesser developments. Cafes, garages and supermarkets cling to them. The first we are going to is Piccolo Sonno - an Italian Restaurant. If you're a group of more than 6, it has to be served with a set menu, but if they serve pizzas and you're still hungry, they'll serve you more, so I don't see a problem with that. Dessert is a tasting menu with unlimited drinks. From the comments I've read below, the owners are the same, they make their own pizza dough, and all the preparations are made by the chef. Nothing is frozen or store-bought, everything is made in-house. Quality comes first.They should improve their wait times, but so far I haven't had any problems. It's true that not all desserts are homemade. During the week, they serve a set menu with traditional dishes, not just pizza and pasta. And now that they're in a larger location, they also offer tapas, including a delicious crab salad. Super easy parking, and wheelchair access through the back door. 100% recommended for a leisurely visit. Outside on the terrace they have a slide and a swing, a foosball table.



We have not had a farm equipment supplier in our life and so we will pop in to Fitos. Matola, SL  They open week days from 8am to 2pm.   Manuel reckoned ‘Good service, they explain everything and help you resolve your doubts. They take a lot of interest and are very pleasant.’  Carlos added ‘The only place in the area where I've found Green Farmer products (Dioxi Raí and Dioxi Big); a wide variety and excellent service. 100% recommended.’




We end the day by the Restaurante Los Molinos, so let us go in.   It gets 4.1 stars.  Yesterday Jose gave it five stars.  ‘The restaurant is very good.The service and food were excellent, especially the very professional and friendly staff. The grilled meat was very good and tender. My partner and I left very satisfied.I recommend it to everyone.’



Elias gave one star.  You be the judge.  ‘The fried peppers were freshly picked from the garden. The food was scarce on weekends and expensive. The best thing was the young waiter with glasses, very attentive. Thank you’

  Pina de Ebro has something for everyone who enjoys the architecture of Spanish pueblos.  It has the tiny lanes, on which houses have been rebuilt for generations without a care for the needs of the modern motorist.  We have the pathways which have been tiled over but once were dirt tracks.  We have the modern suburban developments of low rise houses and 80s hopefully aspiring shacks.  First all, however, we have a park.
