The girl is gorgeous, the prices are very appropriate for the quality

We are heading along the edge of the great descent to the sea and will be encased with houses for much of this bit, which rises 80m along the journey.  We are heading for Guimar, so let us find out something about it.

The place takes its name from the pre-Conquest Guanche kingdom. The locals kept goats, sheep and pigs, farmed a bit and exploited the resources of the sea and forest.  Guimar, as a Castilian pueblo, is linked to the building of Sugar Mill owned by Juan Felipe and Blasino Romano.  The settlement, which stretches away towards the centre of the island, grew in the 18th century with an increase in market gardening and wine production. The late 20th century saw in influx of tourists, second home owers and the like.  In 1842 2000 people lived here.  Today it is 21,000.  There is a lot to look at https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%BC%C3%ADmar and note. Among those things are that 250 trees were planted to coincide with the building of the new sewerage system.

The Parada is a bar that opens at 6am and closes at 4pm every weekday.  Last week Tania was impressed.  ‘This is a classic local bar with wooden paneling and metal stools. People don’t come here for the design, but for the tasty food and the relaxed atmosphere. We went for the set menu: soup, papas con carne, and tea. We also ordered an octopus salad. Everything turned out to be surprisingly delicious — homemade, hearty, and unpretentious. The salad was especially good: fresh vegetables and tender octopus in a light marinade.’

Over the road is the Libreria Papeleria Gongora - a stationary shop.  Aide thought ‘The girl is super friendly and attentive, helping you at all times with anything you need. If she doesn't have it, she can get it for you. 100% recommended. There isn't a day I go in and don't leave with more than one book.’  Juan added 'The girl is gorgeous, the prices are very appropriate for the quality and the materials are very good. Excellent attention. It is the typical bookstore that you enter and as soon as you breathe in the smell of the store you bring peace and that pleasant feeling of stationery and books. It's my usual stationery store, and my favorite. Support local commerce.’

We will ignore the business known as Xx - as this fax service is not on our path - and end the day at the vets.  Mencey Acaymo is open 9 to 1 every day but sunday and 4-6 on week days.  It gets 4.4 stars and Joni reckoned ‘Very good service from Raquel, good prices and excellent care for my cat and my dog, highly recommended.’

So  we will climb some more and end the day.
