Into the deep south
We are flying on Vueling and will have to move our watches back an hour as we will arrive ar 12.20 local time. Tenifire keeps Greenwich Mean Time, which we all know is the only legitimate and proper time to be had world wide. We are coming into the Aeropuerto de Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna.
Time for airport stats. Apparently we are 633m above sea level and are among the 18.5 million passengers who come through the place. The most infamous fact is that the deadliest aircraft in history happened in 1977. Two Boeing 747s collided on the runway, 583 people died. During the 1930s plans were afoot for a airport. The first flight was in 1941. In 1964 was runway was extended to 3000m. The problem with fog led to the building of the South Airport. Alicante is the 13th most likely destination for domestic routes; Madrid is the biggest [1.4 million] 2,3,5 & 6th are from the Canary Islands.
We are walking out amid the mix of lanes and new roads which crowd around the airport. We are passing the Bar La Granja. A four star sort of a place. It is LGBTQ+ friendly and is open from 1-5 Sunday to Wednesday; 1-6 and 8-11 Friday and Saturday and closed on Thursdays. Jorge wasn’t entirely happy. ‘I haven't been to this place for many years. I think they've changed owners, and now there are people who don't run it with proper training. The food has reduced its quality to a minimum… Ropa vieja made with frozen vegetable stew, no meat, and potato straws... a mess. The scrambled eggs weren't bad, but they didn't even have any salt. The pork steak was very bad; it tasted like it had been in the fridge for a couple of days and was quite small. The quesillo wasn't bad
Now, we are crossing the Puente Del Coromoto. Why are we bothered about this way across the TF-5. It has a reviews! PAR wrote ‘A very quiet and cool place. Ideal for a walk. Manadarina felt it important to tell us ‘There is still access’
The Googleplonk has left us at a carpark. Apparently you can walk into it Intercambiador La Laguna. It only gets 3.8 stars. Angeles declared ‘Super good’. Liliana is less happy ‘The electric car charging stations have been broken for months and have not been repaired. This is a gross neglect and lack of respect for users. Although this is a great place to park in La Laguna and connect with public transportation, the lack of attention to users who want to contribute to sustainable transportation is frustrating. Repairs are urgently needed!
So we end a new day nearer the equator.
