I went with the desire to eat
I went looking for some stats about Benidorm. First I found recent British papers claiming the place was virtually empty - with locals dancing in the streets in honour of reclaiming their partonomy. I then found claims that last year was the best year ever - Mayor Toni Perez saying they had 252,000 visitors a day. Possibly we are in the grips of regression to the mean.
In 2022 Benidorm was the third most visited place in Spain, with 1.8 million. April seems to be when Spaniards head out to the place. In 2022 433,000 went there - compared to 160,000 to Barcelona. Brits numbered 17% of the April total. 2024 saw a big increase of the Italians heading that way.
With that we will head down towards the old town. The images jump around between early 2025, back to 2017, with a range of years in between. We have so much choice I’m not sure where to go but the Museo Boca del Calvari is both mildly odd and LGBTQ+ friendly. Harry sums it up best. ‘Lovely free little art museum with a changing selection of displays. Managed to see a number of Goya's etchings from 'Disasters of war' and 'Los caprichos'. Fascinating. Also a small number of archaeological items from Benidorm.’ Duncan adds ‘Nice little art museum it's free and changes displays regularly. Not going to be every ones cup of tea but if you fancy seeing some thing with a difference’
We are on to the beach, a reason why many people came here. The public toilets are reviewed. They are open from 9am to 8.30pm. Eight people reviewed thee. They range from ‘Great! A free restroom near the beach… That's how it should be.’; ‘Good clean toilet’ to ‘Very dirty and unbearable smell.......’
Jaguar is a Peruvian bar, and we’ve not honoured the birth place of Paddington so lets look https://gratis-5486423.webadorsite.com/raciones-y-combinados A Caesar Salad will cost 7.50 euros, the Jaguar Salad 8. Yesterday Jocelyn proclaimed ‘Everything was delicious, good service!!!’ Tania was not impressed ‘I am Peruvian, I went to eat and they gave me the Pachamanca heated from the day before. The potatoes ala hauancaina with heated potatoes were terrible. I went with the desire to eat after a while, but I left disappointed, and it was excessively expensive.’
We may want something else more local. Visit Benidorm offers these suggestions.
