Freshness and personalized attention

Let us move on and down - well, 250m down in a pleasant stroll along the less busy streets.

So, here we are, wandering down amid the heart of the Canary Islands so let's get pre-1400. The Greeks and Phoenicians visited the islands and the Romans knew of them.  Various theories have been put  out forwards but it is generally accepted that the earliest settlers arrived around 1000BC and then others turned up un the Phoenician era, running up to 600BC.  Apparently a Roman client King Juba II, sent a expedition to the isles.  Subsequently Roman amphorae and the like have been found on the Iles.  From the 14th century onward, sailors from Mallorca, Portugal and Genoa made numerous visits. The Majorcans established a mission with a bishop that lasted from 1350 to 1400.

We haven’t visited a butchers for a while so here is La Estella, a butchers with 16 reviews and 4.6 stars.  It is open 8 till 2.15 every day but Monday, when its closed and Sunday, when they knock off at 2pm.  Gamespro were so fulsome I had to let them have their head ‘Quality and confidence in each cut – Carnicería La Estrella  Carnicería La Estrella, in the heart of La Laguna, is synonymous with quality, freshness and personalized attention. It is one of those traditional businesses where friendly service and knowledge of the product make the difference. The meat they offer is first class: tender, tasty and always well selected. Whether it's for a barbecue, a homemade stew or a special cut, you will always find just what you need here. In addition, they advise with kindness and professionalism, recommending options according to your needs or recipes.’

Next, a butch headdresser, well, Peluquería masculina Pedro Ramos.  It is open 9.30-3.30 week days.  The latest review is 8 months ago.  Alberto said ‘One of the best hair salons in the Cuesta area. Two professionals, and above all, hairdressers who know how to do their job well. Prices in line with today's standards. Congratulations on your great work.

We end the day in the Parque Las Indias. It tends to be busiest in the early evening.  Most people give stars but no words.  Manuel reckoned ‘What I liked the most was the sculpture by Eduardo Gregorio, from the First Street Sculpture Exhibition, in 1973, a work forged in concrete.’  Andres added ‘Modern and comfortable for walking alone or with your pet. Lots of color and murals of great artistic quality, a pleasure to walk and observe so much art.’  Andres separated the main park from the play park and is the only reviewer ‘Spacious and well maintained. Surrounded by canine art.

We are still 123m above sea level so risk some more downward motion tomorrow.
