Waiting for the rain
Along we go, up and down and down and up and so to the Llavador - Font de la Serra. It is another of the preserved communal washing places. Elizaveta recorded a year ago ‘October 2023. No water yet, just clean stagnant water. Waiting for rain and coming back here. Beautiful place. Quiet and calm. Great for a rest on a hike.’
We will descend to Vall d’Ebo. In 1842 it was Vall de Evo. It changed it’s name in 2007 - so we really ought to call it La Vall de Ebo. Various Prehistoric remains have been found, as have Moorish farmhouses in the surrounding hills. In 1609 the populace was removed if they were of Moorish origin and replaced by people from Mallorca. The village is twined with Santa Margarita in the Balearic.
The village has 200 people dwelling. Giving the number of cafes it is clearly a place to go to.
We need a decent meal and, at 4,5 stars, Foc i Brasa, may offer one. Emmanuel said of it ‘We had lunch on the outdoor terrace overlooking the beautiful mountain scenery. The grilled meats were excellent. The service was very good. I recommend it.
Ilona was fulsome ‘What a lovely little surprise we had finding this restaurant on our drive to Val d’Ebo! We had exceptional food and very good service. I forgot to ask the server’s name but we’ll be back to find out. So, we had a very tasty tomato salad and different croquettes, all freshly made and hot. I had an artichoke starter which was superb and a completely new recipe. I asked if I could have it but I think the server forgot 😉. Then on to a very tender rib eye steak cooked on an open fire with grilled veg for me and chips for Dave. Phew I didn’t think we could eat any more but the pumpkin flan was so tempting that we got one to share. Definitely 5 stars for the food and service. Thank you! PS I forgot to take a photo of the steak or flan.
Time to push on.
