Spoiling a nice view
We are heading over the hills and into Quatretonda.
First though we are going to pass by one of those new made picnic areas, supplied by a new made road. The carved off piece now has a nice view of an old bridge and an opportunity to dump rubbish and drive away quickly.
So to Quatretonda. The usual prehistoric and Roman stuff can be found but in truth the documents for the settlement only survive from the mid thirteenth century and the Christian conquest. The town gently grew from 2100 to 2500 between 1900 and 2010, but declined to 2200 there after. https://quatretonda.es/
We are coming in via the Olive Oil co-op. Coopval. http://coopvall.com/ 13 reviews gave 4.6 stars. Isbael reckoned ‘Extra virgin olive oil exceeds all the expectations that can be asked of a very good oil. Their commitment to quality and tradition is reflected in each bottle. Its aroma is fresh, its flavor balanced and its texture excellent. And, no less important, the customer service is exceptional, with a team that is very attentive and passionate about their product. They take care of every detail, from the selection of the olives to the extraction process, guaranteeing a pure oil full of nuances. Definitely a five-star option for those looking for authenticity and excellence in every drop. Highly recommended!’
We will skip round the edge of the town, mainly to see Bar Avingua. I include two pictures. Guess which the one from the Google review and then the one from Streetview. Javier rated it as 3 stars - which does seem someone using three stars as it was intended. ‘We had lunch there when returning from the Serra de Quatretonda with the bike. Very good service. The sandwiches were all very well prepared and so were the cremaets. €7.5 per person.’
Mostly the reviews are short and sweet. I feel uninclined to put the one star moan because it seems about price.
Let us head out of town, turn off the main road and see ourselves into the wild.
