Lost in La Mancha.... alright, Alicante

Lost in the hills.  Not a bit of it  We are just enjoying the view.  Did I say we were in Alicante Province.  I’m sure I did.  Let us go big on this.

Alicante is the 5th most populace province in Spain.  1.8 million people hang out here, a third of a million in Alicante itself, 230,000 in Elche, 101,000 in Torrevieja and 71,000 in our destination, Benidorm.  Almost a quarter of these are of foreign extraction - in 19 of the 54 communities over half the people non-natives.

The main industries in Alicante province are, in the primary sector, intensive agriculture in Vega Baja del Segura and Camp d'Elx.  The textile industry was, historically, important. Marble quarrying has grown in the last 20 years. Obviously the Costa Blanca attracts millions of tourists, especially from the Netherlands, the UK and Ireland, Germany, Belgium, Norway or France and also from other parts in Spain like Madrid.

Currently Alicante sends 5 PP, 4 PSOE, 2 Vox and a SUMAR [left wing / progressive].

Time for a sit and a work out where we are going.
