Holy Corporals Batman!

 A quick, not quiet going back on ourselves and turn east towards Llutxent.   For those keen on this sort of thing - we are 300m above sea level.

We are with the usual story of Aragonese Conquest, with the move of 24 loyalists from his army.  Resistance continued and was occasionally successful.  The steady rise of populace from the 1163 of 1860, continued unbroken to 2508 in 2011, since when it has declined to 2335.  


We are in a place that has a fiesta dedicated to the Holy Corporals.  It falls on 24th February and is organized by the "Germandat del Sagrats Corporals". It commemorates events in 1239. During one of the Aragonese-Andalucian wars a Eucharist was ordered up, at which point the Moors attacked.  According to legend , Father Mateo Martínez, folded the cloth containing the consecrated hosts and kept it under a rock until the assault was over. The priest continued the homily once the battling was done and, upon taking out the body of Christ made into bread, he saw that it was covered in blood, and proclaimed s a miracle. A Moors and Christians festival is celebrated because of this story, where the central axis is this event, the Miracle of the Corporals.




After all that we need  sit.  Bar-Restaurant L’Alter gets 4.3 stars.  Three weeks ago Jose gave four of them and said ‘We ate... variety and good food.’  Team Primos gave five ‘Very good restaurant, crazy food, very good and their baked chicken is delicious.’    Tony was even more moved ‘8 of us rocked up at 13:05hrs unannounced and we will definitely be back. Fantastic Service, great menu, the food was hot freshly cooked and delicious with a varied choice for the menu. The service was 1st class fast and attentive. An absolute gem!’

  Pina de Ebro has something for everyone who enjoys the architecture of Spanish pueblos.  It has the tiny lanes, on which houses have been rebuilt for generations without a care for the needs of the modern motorist.  We have the pathways which have been tiled over but once were dirt tracks.  We have the modern suburban developments of low rise houses and 80s hopefully aspiring shacks.  First all, however, we have a park.
