Esteban is spectacular

We are heading down, from the rather pleasant route through the groves, back to the CV-700. Ahead is Benissiva. 82 people live here. It has several bars and we are going into the Bar Placeta.

Bar Placeta opens at 9am  Today it closes at 2pm today. Tomorrow it is closed. Otherwise it is a 9-8 sort of a place.

Reviews are big on ‘lunch’, ‘baked rice’ and ‘bocadillos’.  Al McColl gave a wordy review ‘Stopped off at the Bar Placeta on way back from a long bike ride. Took the 12 euro Menu and had very tasty rice and bean soup then grilled meat platter with veg. Good honest home cooking. Nothing fancy but big portions and tasty. Very friendly service. Recommended’

Oljallma was even more fulsome. ‘The best place to eat for thousands of miles. Ana is an incredible cook, Alba and Eva are very nice and attentive to everything, and Esteban is spectacular, especially with his prime rib and 5-star wines.’

We are heading up and up again - almost 300m in all.  We will go near a viewing platform - the Mirador del Xap.  Ian reckoned ‘I came on a bycycle from the south side from CV712. I hoped to pass the mirador and go down into the Vall de Gallinera to return to Alpatro. About 200 metres after the mirador going down to Vall de Gallinera the road is totally blocked by a massive landslide. So I had to return the way I came. The views from the mirador are stunning so I still think it was worth the ride. There are no signs anywhere on the approach to inform you that the road is closed. Five stars for the view.’

Tomorrow we will try not to get lost in the mountains.
