A dog weighing about 20kg is no longer a pet
We are heading through the next valley to the sea - down 92m and up 82m. More importantly, we are going to a cheese shop.
Quesería San Antonio gets 4.7 stars from 75 people. It is woman owned and has a website. https://queseriasanantonio.com/ A presentation pack of three cheeses - de mezcla semicurado, de cabra con romero, de vaca con Pimentón de la Vera. It will set you back 40 euros.
On the way out of town is Casa Caty. It is proudly Spanish in its cuisine and gets 4.1 stars. Three months a go Andras was enchanted. ‘Very authentic place! You might be a bit hesitant based on the outside. But very nice inside and local food. Tapas and lunch for no money. The tortillas and the albondigas are highly recommended! Would come back in a heartbeat!’ Others have been less kind.
Let’s enjoy the walk and wonder what is next.
What is next is Hotel Leon Dormido. It is a one star hotel that gets 3.8 of them from 705 reviewers. https://www.hostalleondormido.es/ Reeta liked the place a month ago. She said ‘Hotel Leon Dormido was really lovely place to stay. A bit different, in beautiful village of Polop. Room was tidy, bed very comfortable. Good parking space for our car. Thank you so much!’
Two days ago Persefone was fulsome ‘2 nights. Family-friendly, with children. Excellent price.

Quiet location, very spacious, simple, and clean room with high ceilings. Air conditioning and TV. I liked the beds because the mattresses were firm. The receptionist was very friendly, both when I made the reservation over the phone and upon arrival. He advised me on what I was looking for.
We loved the decor in the hallways and the overall aesthetic of the building's interior, ideal for filming a movie, as my children said. The bathroom was simple and clean, with shower gel, shampoo, and a hairdryer. I liked that they had room for 4/5 people. 15/20 minutes from all the places we wanted to visit. We'll be back as soon as we can get away. I hope to enjoy the cafeteria next time; it wasn't possible this time because it was being renovated. I almost forgot: there's dirt parking for guests right across the street, which is very welcome in these situations.
Marc gives it two stars with ‘It offers what is expected for the price it has.’ What more can you ask? That really should be a three star in a sensible world. Given star inflation, probably four - not two.
Blanca was not happy. ‘We had booked through Booking, where it specifies that pets are allowed on request (and no other conditions). Apparently a dog weighing about 20kg is no longer a pet because they don't allow it, for them only bag dogs are valid. And they don't even have the decency to answer WhatsApp messages or call when you ask. Very bad taste in our mouths and we haven't even gotten to go.’
With that I have the title of today’s blog and we will wander on.
