Across the river with popular ice cream
We have hit the Rio Carraixet. Following floods in 1949 and 1957 the river was canalised. At the turn of the road by the river we find the Capilla Dels Peixets Pablo reports.
‘Traditional stories tell that the parish priest of Alboraya carried the viaticum, at night and in the middle of a great storm, to a seriously ill Moorish convert living on the other side of the Carraixet Ravine, today's demarcation of the town of Almácera. When crossing the riverbed, the receding waters caused him to stagger, and the casket in which he was carrying the Sacred Forms fell into the river, which were dragged by the waters to the sea, where some small fish picked them up and brought them to land, delivering them to some fishermen.
Currently the controversy continues between Alboraya and Almácera as to whether there were 3 or 2 minnows in the miracle. Almàssera has a huge monument with two fish at the entrance to the town, while Alboraya has placed three on top of its church. This has made them become hallmarks of both towns, by incorporating them into their respective municipal heraldry, especially in Almácera because it is the founding religious event, cause or consequence of the miracle.’
We are walking passed the Orxateria Vida. This ice cream shop https://www.facebook.com/horchateriavida is woman owned. 5000 people have reviewed this place and give 4.2 stars.
Aina reported seven hours ago ‘A beautiful place in the middle of the Valencian garden. Delicious, quality products. They have animals like chickens, ducks, and turkeys, which makes the place very entertaining for the little ones. It also has a small playground. The downside is that they only accept cash, which can be annoying since you don't always have cash in your wallet, since card payments are accepted almost everywhere. It's annoying to go there, find a table, and realize you can't pay by card. The place isn't very big and can get crowded at certain times. The service is fast and good.’
We continue across the river and then turn south. We come out to the the beach. We end the day at the Platja de la Patacona. 1875 people give it 4.5 stars. 39 minutes Ignacio stated ‘Everything is very good, there are not enough shops nearby but the rest is perfect.’ Yesterday Vedran was almost as forceful. Good beach, the best in the city, but the big drawback is that there are no showers, only footbaths. There are also no changing rooms, and even if you find one, they are far from the showers.
