A wide assortment of Colours

We are nipping inland a block or so as we head through the suburbs.  Valencia has spread, first to the sea and then north along the coast, and here we have the ordered blocks of recent times.  Valencia has always been important, but its growth in the last 200 years is notable.

The city had 66,000 inhabitants in 1842.  Rural depopulation saw the numbers rise 60% in the 1850s.  Growth slowed in the 1900-1920s, then took off again, driven by war and economy - so that in 1940 454000 people lived here. Today about 790,000 Valencians hold out in the city, with 700,000 in the burbs.

La Casa de la Mar has much to recommend it, not least, table football.  Carla gave it three stars two days ago.  ‘For the price of admission, there are still things to be polished, such as the cleanliness of the bathrooms. There is no toilet paper for an hour, dirty bathrooms and there was no soap, only hydroalcoholic gel.’  Three days ago Toya thought ‘I really liked this place. We went with a large group to celebrate a birthday from the afternoon until closing time. There was live music, two bars, and an outdoor terrace where we could order food. We had a great time, not only because of the atmosphere, but also because of the friendly staff.’

The Bar La Plaza gets a mere 4.1 stars.  Aitzber thought ‘We spent a week in Valencia and went to Bar La Plaza for lunch several times a day. The waiter was super nice, and the food was incredible and very good value. The dishes were varied and delicious.’

I feel a make over is needed.  Yolanda Aliaga Esteticista has a facebook page, last updated in 2022. Amparo said ‘A wonderful professional, very kind and approachable. 100% recommended.’   MDB said ‘I already went to a manicure and I liked it, now I went to a pedicure and I also liked it. They are both very professional and meticulous in their work. They have a wide assortment of colors, which I also like. I met them online (because of the good comments they have) and although I have to travel, I don't mind, it's worth it.’
