No fee hence no barriers

We are off in the middle of nowhere. The road winds around a bit.  Trees and depths are our companions and we will rise almost 200m

I was tempted to leave it at that for a grand effect of solitude but then thought, we won’t be near it but we are nearish Almonecir Castle.

The castle was built at the beginning of the  12th century by the Moors. After the reconquest, the castle passed into the hands of the Christians and over time it lost its military function, being abandoned from the  16th century onwards . Its administrative and government functions continued to be carried out in the palace-house built in the Vall de Almonacid - which was a bit more comfy.

In recent times it was preserved to within an inch of its life.  https://www.valldealmonacid.es/ The pueblo website has a picture on the front page.  Tripadvisor has 36 reviews.  Womullan said ‘Its just a big old ruin on top of a hill. Its really quite large, there is no fee hence no barriers and you can climb about as you wish. The central castle still has quite a bit of roof and the walls are all still visible. Great views from up there'

And so another day ends.
