 We begin today with a shot from a road nearby. It was taken on october 2024 and shows you how obscure the chaps at Streetview are prepared to go.


Today is a long straight road, with fairly cheap land either side and so lots of commerce, fincas and waste space.


Azulejos El Grau is described as a consignment shop’ and is LGBTQ+ friendly.  Karoline said ‘I have gone in search of stoneware for the kitchen floor and I have found what I need, as well as at a good price, good quality, the owner, Diana, very friendly and a good expert on the subject. I recommend this place for purchasing coatings.’  And who are we to doubt her.


The Bar-Pension Marti offers us respite in a very straight world.    A month ago Mikel noted ‘

A lunch place of which there are few left. At Bar Martí you feel at home from the first moment. Jenny, the cook, is lovely. He explained to us in detail how he prepares grilled lunches, with care and real flavor. The meatballs are amazing, juicy and with a homemade touch that is hard to find nowadays.


And the desserts... how wonderful! Jamila is the artist behind them. The pudding is a real delight, homemade, soft and with that flavor that takes you right back to childhood.


Furthermore, the treatment of Sagrario, the longtime owner, is close and familiar. You can see that there is love here in everything they do. An essential place for lunch if you are in the area.

  Pina de Ebro has something for everyone who enjoys the architecture of Spanish pueblos.  It has the tiny lanes, on which houses have been rebuilt for generations without a care for the needs of the modern motorist.  We have the pathways which have been tiled over but once were dirt tracks.  We have the modern suburban developments of low rise houses and 80s hopefully aspiring shacks.  First all, however, we have a park. One thing we noticed, especially with a small boy in tow, was the number of parks with interesting play equipment.  This is because, in Spain, people seem to like children.  This does make them a semi-public property and people feel free to indulge them with sweetmeats and pass comments. ‘I think sucking thumbs makes children look ugly’ said one elderly woman.’ My Spanish for ‘well desiccated prune face, no one asked you’ deserted me.  The play equipment is in the Plaza Pilarin Artigas.  Honestly I’ve looked and was giving u...
