Slipping between the decades


 We are actually going to be in this year today. Our Streetview shots will be of February.  Enjoy the iron red soil and the washed out edges. We Will pop into the Summer of ‘23 occasionally and even October 2014.  The soil is very red and the landscape is more than making up for the fact the only thing to look at is a disused railway bridge.







I know what you’re very thinking.  You told who us who is FamousFix’s 2nd most person from Teruel.  Who is the most famous. You’ll kick yourself when I tell you, David Civera.  Ok, neither had I.  I suspect I’m the wrong demographic however I probably saw him when he represented Spain in the 2001 Eurovision Song Contest.  His Dile que la quiero’ came 6th.  He released an album - Dile que la quiero, which achieved a degree of success. A year later, in 2002, he released  En cuerpo y alma that sold more than 200,000 copies, and its first single "Qué la detengan" did well.  His last album was released in 2016 and was called 15th Anniversary.

That not enough for you?  How about some football. Alas, Teruel has never had a La Liga team.  It shares this with Lugo,Ourense, Zamora, Palenica. Segovia, Avila. Caceres, Toledo, Ciudad Real and  Cuenca. Club Deportivo Teruel mostly exist in the third division/  They had a brief experience on Segunda B during the end of the 80s .  This year they are an almost all Spanish team, with two chaps from abroad.  Mid Fielder Facundo Garcia comes from Argentina while Ahn June-hyuk is from South Korea.



Ahn June-hyuk joined the Youth Academy of Roda and then joined Villareal.  He played 44 matches for Villareal C, 62 times for the B team, 7 times for Salamanca. He played for South Korea Under-20s. He played 24 times for Teurel in 2023/24.  I have no extra information.  I am not sure if he played this year.

Mini Pieces of Supposed tuna

  Pina de Ebro has something for everyone who enjoys the architecture of Spanish pueblos.  It has the tiny lanes, on which houses have been rebuilt for generations without a care for the needs of the modern motorist.  We have the pathways which have been tiled over but once were dirt tracks.  We have the modern suburban developments of low rise houses and 80s hopefully aspiring shacks.  First all, however, we have a park. One thing we noticed, especially with a small boy in tow, was the number of parks with interesting play equipment.  This is because, in Spain, people seem to like children.  This does make them a semi-public property and people feel free to indulge them with sweetmeats and pass comments. ‘I think sucking thumbs makes children look ugly’ said one elderly woman.’ My Spanish for ‘well desiccated prune face, no one asked you’ deserted me.  The play equipment is in the Plaza Pilarin Artigas.  Honestly I’ve looked and was giving u...
