Irregular Geography
Olives and cuttings and the Rio Guadalopillo. I have looked at several websites connected to this river and have not been moved by any of them, so let's look at the Province of Teruel.
The Province of Teruel has a population of 135,000, a quarter of whom live in the capital. The population density is 9.14km2, making it one of the lowest in Spain. The population peaked in 1910 [265k] but fell, especially after 1960 - stabilising after 1991. In terms of wealth it is 19th out of Spain’s 50 provinces.
Wiki says of it ‘Teruel is the province most affected by depopulation. [ Its irregular geography and climate result in soil with low agricultural yields. Traditionally agricultural and mining, economic and industrial reconversion has seriously affected it. Despite everything, energy production is still the main and almost only industry present in the province’
Castilian is the majority language in the province of Teruel, and dialects of Catalan are spoken in the northeast of the province ( Matarraña region and part of Bajo Aragón ). According to data provided by the Aragonese Institute of Statistics, 83.5% of the inhabitants of the Matarraña region have Catalan as their first language, 12.1% Spanish , 4.1% use both languages interchangeably, while 0.4% use another language. According to these data, the Teruel residents who have Catalan as their first language would be approximately 6,800 inhabitants, which would represent 5.13% of the total population of the province.
More, or less, of this tomorrow.
