On we go to La Mata de los Olmos.  Unlike Los Olmos, Mata de is a PSOE stronghold.  Well, the PSOE has been the biggest party since 1995.  The Current mayor is Silvia Ines Gimeno Gascon - who has held the post since 2007.  The populace was around 500-600 until 1960, when it declined to 250.   Wiki resorts that the economy focuses on cattle [over 10,000 head], sheep [above 4000] as well as some cereals, fruit  trees and fodder crops. J Berton is more forthcoming.  ‘Despite being the only bar in town, the service and food is very good. We went for dinner the first day and decided on the burgers. The meat was plump and very tasty. We also ordered battered lace, which was actually all fried. But the hamburgers are 10. The next day we repeat for lunch and another 10. The sandwiches are loaded and very good. €8 for the lunch menu with everything. To repeat when we return.’

  Pina de Ebro has something for everyone who enjoys the architecture of Spanish pueblos.  It has the tiny lanes, on which houses have been rebuilt for generations without a care for the needs of the modern motorist.  We have the pathways which have been tiled over but once were dirt tracks.  We have the modern suburban developments of low rise houses and 80s hopefully aspiring shacks.  First all, however, we have a park.
