A very pleasant rustic village

We are heading to ‘The Elms’ aka out of Google translate as Los Olmos.  Los Olmos sits on a ridge and is a thin, long one time townlet which has mooched down from about 500 souls to just over a 100. The road used to wind up through it but now it is bypassed and it almost exists as an enclave along the way.

Democracy returned to Los Olmos in 1979 and all five councillors were elected from the Union de Centro Democratico - the ‘we won’t scare anyone’ party at the heart of the transfer from dictatorship to constitutional monarchy.    They then switched to the Centro Democratico y Social - a centre liberal party - from 1983 to 1990.  From then on PAIR have ruled the roost.  The Partido Aragones Regionalista are a centre-right regionalist grouping.  PAIR have usually had four councillors - with the opposition provided by a single Partido Popular member.  Nuria Espallargas Carceller has been mayor since 2007.  https://www.losolmos.es/   I clicked on this about her.  https://www.elespanol.com/invertia/disruptores/grandes-actores/investigacion/20220606/nuria-espallargas-espanola-resuelto-fabricar-materiales-resistentes/676932341_0.html  Apparently I was the first person to do so.

Oh what the heck, let’s have a drink.  The Bar Acro opens from 9am to 3.30 and 7pm to 10 on weekdays and midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.  The place closes on Monday. It seems to be busiest at lunchtime. 113 people give it an average of 4,7 stars.  The most common references are price [15], dinner [7], meat [6], eggs [3], patatas bravas [3], squid [3], ribeye [3], luxury [3] and motorcyclist [2]. I assume the last was visiting and not on the menu.  Two months ago Ferran wrote ‘Food of sandwiches, hamburgers, mixed dishes and tapas all grilled and quality food. The atmosphere is familiar but the separation between the bar and the restaurant area is with a screen and intimacy is lost, yet a very pleasant rustic village place. Access adapted for physically disabled people.Very good Chardonnay 3403 white wine’

Jose - six months ago, gave it five stars and then said ‘It lacks one more point of quality to reach 5 stars. Good grilled meat and starters, good service and an acceptable place but all without being top. The price-quality ratio was good. It's not a bad option to eat in the area, although there isn't much to choose from either.’

As the Municipal swimming pool is by the road we might as well look in.  Ro sums it up well ‘The municipal pool of Los Olmos, if memory serves, is only open in the months of July and August in the morning and afternoon. It is the ideal place to take a dip on summer days and a meeting point for people who spend the summer in Los Olmos.

Oh well. Onwards we go.
