A cemetery that in no way harms public health

We are following the new, improved, A-2042, and so will not go into Palomar de Arroyos, which is a shame, as it is a rather splendid church on a hill vibe going for it.  We will glance from a distance so we better have some idea of what we look at.

The GSHD [I’m going to start abbreviating the Geographical-statistical-historical dictionary ] says of it in the middle nineteenth century.

PALOMAR: v. with the town hall of the province of Teruel (12 leg,), the Jewish part of Aliaga (2 1/2), the aud. terr. and diocese of Zaragoza (18), and cg of Aragon. It is situated on a broken land in a wide mountain range; the climate is cold, and the most common illnesses are colds and inflammations. It is made up of 150 houses of medium construction; it has a school attended by 42 children, endowed with 2,517 rs.; a parish church (San Juan Bautista), served by a local priest, with a regular attendance and provision: the church was burned and destroyed by the Carlists during the civil war; it has a chapel in the square, dedicated to Our Lady of the Angels; and a cemetery that in no way harms public health. The municipality borders Montalvan to the north; E. Cirujeda; S. Campos, and O. Aldovas and Escucha; two streams originate here and later join the Martin River ; there are many springs of good water throughout the area. The land is very rugged and of average quality: it has two populated hills, one with pines and the other with small oaks. The roads are local, with one that goes up from Alcañiz to Teruel and another to Daroca. Mail is received from Calamocha twice a week. prod. . wheat, morcacho, oats and some broad beans, potatoes, beans and chickpeas; there is sheep, cattle and mules, and partridge hunting. pop. : 151 neighbors, 603 alm. tax wealth : 59,540 rs. The municipal budget amounts to 6,500 rs., which is covered by its own products and the remainder by neighborhood distribution.’

Today it has 172 residents   I am much taken with the reference to a cemetery that does not harm the public health.  I wonder if we are still in the miasma world of the miasma and smells or is it about water supply.  The town had a fairly solid 650ish people through the nineteenth century. It leapt up to 791 in 1950 and then went into a solid decline till 2011 when it steadied at 170ish.  Like many wiki pages it was politically last updated in the 2010s and the website follows a similar pattern to other small communities. https://www.palomardearroyos.es/   There is a job out there for a web designer and enthusiast for such pueblos to add depth and shine to these.

We will pass nearby the lavadero fuente la Laguna.  https://www.lavaderospublicos.net/   This former washing area has several unworded reviews.
We may poke out toes in but the road needs waling and so on we go.
