Curated Things
We are starting by the Ayuntamiento - which gets a 4.5 star rating, surprisingly high for a civic authority. https://www.calaceite.es/ I would say the lead events announcements on the site are from 2022, but, you can;t have everything. People tend to use the site to make comments about the town. Ana loved it two months ago ‘Beautiful and well-kept town’ Silvia vented about the behaviour of the citizens’ Fernando felt others towns were prettier. Israel felt the other ‘A spectacular town. I had a great time there. We will return if you have any doubts’
The Banco de Santander is not reviewed. Lets nip up the Calle Santa Barbara. It has a bakery, Panaderia Agut Colomer gets 4,9 stars. Miriam said ‘Spectacular wood-fired bread, typical of the town, it is delicious, we took the large one for €2.40 and they cut it into slices and also some chocolate panadetes, very good. The person who served us was very nice.’
Out on to the streets and under the Portal de Orta - a splendid gateway. People give it five stars, but without a reason.
We will nip passed the Casa Empeltre Pequena, which dates back to 1756. https://www.casaempeltre.com/ People seem to like it. Joan said A very pleasant stay, it transports you back in time and the house helps a lot to create an intimate, cozy and comfortable atmosphere. Highly recommended!!!
We are wandering north and across the north of the town. We will pass the Museo Juan Cabre. https://museojuancabre.es/ The building in 18th century the museum 1987. It began with the archaeological collection of Juan Cabre. It was expanded in 1990 to include an ethnological section and 1991, a contemporary art. The ethnological is of the classic Spanish style. Bare stoned displayed, various objects from the olden day are arrayed for inspection. Jaun’s bits are all sorts of ceramic and metallic of all the ages and the contemporary art is just that. A month ago SV said ‘Worth it, free entry. Several floors in a historic building. There is a section on Iberian villages, cave paintings and field tools’
So we end on the edge of the Plaza Fuente de la Villa.
