Proper Three Stars


 I am putting a couple of landscape screenshots down, partly because we have no streetview on our dusty trail but mainly because it really shows the contrast between the barren hills and fertile valley.  We are following the N-II until suddenly we come to the neatly grided town of Alfajarin.  


Alfajarin is one of those places which, generally, bumbled along through History.  The Muslims built a castle here in the 10th century. Wandering between being a large village and small town it had 55 hearths in a 1495 Hearth Register.   Alright, rabbit hole.  In 1495 the French were threatening and the Plague had ravaged and what with one thing and another Ferdinand of Aragon needed some tax so he sent people out to find out how much he could squeeze.  Alfajarin.    Had about 600 people in 1842, 1000 by 1857 and slightly less till the 1920s/  By 1970 it had 1250 inhaboitants but shot up after 2001 to the present 2600 - the result of car ownership and easy access to the the cities and surrounding work.




We are very much on the edge of the Pabellon Cultural La Portaza - which seems happy to put on Beatles Tribute acts and dog shows.  Berta stated, with maximum clarity and minimum help ‘I am from Alfajarín, I know it very well.’  Javier added ‘We went to see beauty and the beast a great performance’    




Next door is the park space which gets its own review.  Joan sais ‘It's a multi-purpose space that makes the whole day I've been there a very well organized Christmas trophy archery shoot with lots of gifts for the participants as well as a pica pica that looked like a soup the place is pretty good but what what gives character to these places are the people who make possible everything that ez does’



Soon we are under the motorway and edging towards a new road.  We end by some warehouses and manufacturers.  WK Thomas Espana SL is a plastics manufacturer/  It gets a mention because Elias has given the only proper three star review ever to appear anywhere.  Three stars should be for ‘it was ok, I have no complaints, it was exactly as I wanted.’  Four should be fore a bit better and five for out of this world treatment.  Elias gave three and said ‘Loading on schedule, correct treatment’

In which a Roman Bridge and a Funeral Parlour are reviewed.

  We are rising again. We are rising 20 of your earth metres today. We will be 818m above the level sea. We are about at the highest point in the Cheviot Hills. Mini Pieces of Supposed tuna

  Pina de Ebro has something for everyone who enjoys the architecture of Spanish pueblos.  It has the tiny lanes, on which houses have been rebuilt for generations without a care for the needs of the modern motorist.  We have the pathways which have been tiled over but once were dirt tracks.  We have the modern suburban developments of low rise houses and 80s hopefully aspiring shacks.  First all, however, we have a park. One thing we noticed, especially with a small boy in tow, was the number of parks with interesting play equipment.  This is because, in Spain, people seem to like children.  This does make them a semi-public property and people feel free to indulge them with sweetmeats and pass comments. ‘I think sucking thumbs makes children look ugly’ said one elderly woman.’ My Spanish for ‘well desiccated prune face, no one asked you’ deserted me.  The play equipment is in the Plaza Pilarin Artigas.  Honestly I’ve looked and was giving u...
