Very useful in such a small town

Spain has always put its heart and soul into two things.  Serious bits of geography and roundabouts.  We will see examples of both of them today but first some breakfast.



 



Opening at 7.30am the restaurante El Coto https://lariojaturismo.com/comunidad/larioja/recurso/el-coto has things to offer us.    Recent reviews are very positive.  Jorge reckons ‘A restaurant close to where I work where I go once a week. Variety on the menu, generous portions, good price and even better service. We laughed a lot with the waiters who are very friendly. Recommended if you pass by’  David liked the place as well ‘I stopped to have some skewers and the truth is that it was a success. Homemade skewers and casserole tapas of all kinds. In addition, they had an affordable menu and à la carte option.’





You know I don’t think we have visited a cannery before and the Lino Moreno Soldevilla is so nearby, lets.  https://www.linomoreno.es/  They will be closed till the 9th so all we can do is press our noses to the window and read the reviews.  They opened in 1940 and put things in bottles and jars,  Two weeks ago Rudolf - who was just passing through I presume - reported ‘We will We were served very friendly here. 3 stars because we haven't tried it yet. They have a nice selection of local products.  We have now enjoyed the tangerine jam, the tomato sauce and especially the artichoke hearts.


The owner responded ‘Thank you very much for your review, we hope you enjoy our products, we make them with great love for you and all our customers.’





That's why I'm increasing it to 4 stars, which for me doesn't just mean good but very good.passing a small Area de Descano.  Five years ago Manuel was happy.  ‘It met the expectations I wanted.  Comfortable place at the foot of the road, with a couple of tables and seats to eat or have a bite to eat.  They also have benches and an area with plenty of shade. A good detail is the fountain, where you can wash your hands or simply have a drink of water. To put a but, if you go with small children you have to have a good view due to the proximity to the road.’  A year ago Miriam was less content.  ‘There is no water. The font does not work’  It was ever the way.















All this walking, I need a some health and beauty treatment.  Clarel is a 9-2, 5-8 sort of a place. Of the five reviews, the one that Samuel gives has words attached.  ‘Very useful in such a small town’  We will end on that note.

Mini Pieces of Supposed tuna

  Pina de Ebro has something for everyone who enjoys the architecture of Spanish pueblos.  It has the tiny lanes, on which houses have been rebuilt for generations without a care for the needs of the modern motorist.  We have the pathways which have been tiled over but once were dirt tracks.  We have the modern suburban developments of low rise houses and 80s hopefully aspiring shacks.  First all, however, we have a park. One thing we noticed, especially with a small boy in tow, was the number of parks with interesting play equipment.  This is because, in Spain, people seem to like children.  This does make them a semi-public property and people feel free to indulge them with sweetmeats and pass comments. ‘I think sucking thumbs makes children look ugly’ said one elderly woman.’ My Spanish for ‘well desiccated prune face, no one asked you’ deserted me.  The play equipment is in the Plaza Pilarin Artigas.  Honestly I’ve looked and was giving u...
