Notable morphological elements
We are heading down. The general flatness seems to vanish and down is the order of the day. Some of the road seems to need repairs and the stone / concrete barriers are appearing to save us from a plummet.
We are in the Parque Naturalde Montes Obarenes-San Zadornil. It is a bit scrubby. https://patrimonionatural.org/espacios-naturales/parque-natural/parque-natural-montes-obarenes-san-zadornil According to the site ‘The territory occupied by the Montes Obarenes Natural Area is of great beauty and variety of landscapes. Its main attraction is the numerous canyons and cliffs shaped by the rivers, without forgetting very different environments, from large bodies of water, forests, where beech trees and oaks, holly and juniper trees, boxwood and strawberry trees, oaks and pines or ferns and heather and thyme are paired together, to wide panoramic views from the highest points; and together with these natural elements, other artificial ones introduced by man such as some urban centres: Frías, Oña, Pancorvo, Trespaderne, Santa Gadea del Cid and a significant number of medieval constructions (castles, hermitages, etc.).
They are keen to let you know the place is worthy of inclusion because of its notable morphological elements and griffon vultures.
