Your green and fertile meadows were the home of austere Castilians, [Anthem of Medina de Pomar]

We are about to leave Medina de Pomar and it has soooo much to offer.  To that end. I will offer some of it.

The Route of Charles V.  We mentioned this in passing yesterday.  Charles V, Habsburg mega-Prince and Darth Vader for the 16th Century retired to the Monastery of Yustre when he got old and sick of doing all that damn ruling stuff.  He landed at Laredo on 28th September 1556 and arrived at Yuste on 5th February 1557.  This is renenacted.  Here is a viedo of the 2015 version of the landing.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Om9ZIu-inHI  The whole thing arrives in the third weekend in October and sees the Emperor welcomed in the streets of the historic centre with a Renaissance market. On the Sunday morning there is a parade, where the emperor and his crew are received on Bilbao Avenue, where they are received by the Lord of Medina, the Constable and various of the great and the good. Then everyone parades to the Plaza del Corral, where the event ends with a speech.  I’m sure food must be involved somewhere along the way.  Here is a video of it all https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RA3Ed-fChwE

Sometimes you get to understand that wiki pages are not as well tended as they should be.  This intrigued me ‘This is a national gathering held every two years, organised by the Lace Association of Medina de Pomar. The next edition will be the 9th and will take place on 4 March 2017.  ’Alas, I can not find anything out about it.

Before we leave, this is on at the moment.

https://www.medinadepomar.net/agenda/intercambio-cultural-entre-dos-ciudades-orduna-y-medina  Cultural exchange between two cities: Orduña and Medina  It says it is open between 10 and 2.00.  This is regional Spanish museum. It may not be.  Well, not every day.  It is a sort of Shrodinger’s thing.  You will never know until you look.

As we escape Medina we must go to an escape room and the Esoterika is such a one.   https://esoterikaescaperoom.com/es/  It is open from 10 till 8 daily and seems fun if you like that sort of thing,  It has 381 reviews and they are virtually all 5 star.   6 hours ago Jon wrote ‘It's great, very fun, it's very well set, it's a great experience, highly recommended.’    At the same time Ainoha said ‘We had a great time! We were tense almost the entire game (some more than others), but it was a great experience. Highly recommended to have a good time with family or friends. The excellent treatment and the atmosphere that create an amazing experience.’   The only one star review was a month ago from Leticia.  She left no words.  The only did.  ‘Thank you very much, Leticia for wasting a little of your time and giving us a star, we are a little surprised to be honest 🤔 have you come to do the experience with us? Or was it simply a mistake? …’

We really are now doing typical Spain.  Straight road, wide spaces, big sky.  We will pass the Alba Garden Centre https://floresalba.es/  People seem to like the place.  Sergio wrote ‘I recently took a brush cutter in for inspection and/or repair. Adrián checked it and told me what was happening, a piece was incorrectly installed and there was no good contact. I am satisfied with the treatment received and the communication maintained.’

We occasionally pass little gatherings of new build houses - such are sprouting out around the new car owning Spain [for new, read: last 30 years].  We were to build on.  I was hoping to end with a review of an electricity substation, which was on the googlemap but seems to have disappeared since I looked 10 minutes ago.  Oh well. Onwards.
