Like the yogurt my mother is making at home

We are going to go through a hamlet today.  Yes! A hamlet! Several buildings.  But first, we are nipping off the road because we need a drink and some food.  







Bar Asador Castro Valnera is a place for weekenders…. And people who like Tuesdays.  Basically it opens from mid/ late Morning till 7.30 on Saturdays, Sundays and Tuesdays.  Josh loved it ‘Incredible place in the middle of nowhere. Very traditional food cooked on open fire. Best steak I’ve ever had in my life and best lamb chops!! Amazing smoky flavour. Warm friendly and family feeling. Quirky but amazing. Highly recommended.’  A month ago Chrias added ‘A place to repeat. The food was 10 and the staff too. We will return without hesitation.’

I am from the origin country of yogurt and their yogurt is like the yogurt my mother is making at home. Very good!’





And now to civilisation.  Bar Las Machorras.  This is an 11.30 to 11.30 sort of place.   Ramon liked it ‘We found the route bar, well located and you can park without problem. They served us very quickly and the food was very good.’   Others have been less happy with the world of food they offer.  Go there.  Find out yourself.





The Iglesia e Nuestra Senora de las Nieves holds a service at 1pm on Sundays.  Belen reported ‘Safe stop to visit the church.  The altarpiece, and the Virgin outside, in the porch. In a wonderful natural environment, the Church of Las Machorras is a large and well-preserved church.’ 





Let us cross the Rio Trueba at the Puente de las Machorras.  It is a three star reviewed bridge. Fernando opined ‘A very beautiful place, with spectacular views and a gateway to certainly beautiful hiking trails. The bridge is in a strategic place, nearby there is where to eat and regain strength. Highly recommended 👍Greetings to everyone😀’

  Pina de Ebro has something for everyone who enjoys the architecture of Spanish pueblos.  It has the tiny lanes, on which houses have been rebuilt for generations without a care for the needs of the modern motorist.  We have the pathways which have been tiled over but once were dirt tracks.  We have the modern suburban developments of low rise houses and 80s hopefully aspiring shacks.  First all, however, we have a park.
