 This does feel a bit like a perfect valley.  Steep sides, flat green pasture and some rather nice, scattered farms.  Barcenas is what passes for a settlement.  It has 49 inhabitants and a wiki page which manages to say very little with many words. 





The church is dedicated to Mary Magdalene.  It has a three star review.  Segio says ‘Church with a solid appearance and exposed stone. It has no elements to highlight on the outside. I haven't seen the interior.’









While religion rarely causes concern, 31 people reviewed the riverside park.  Manu loved it.  ‘Beautiful place if there is one, the Riverside has some beautiful fields where you can go to spend the day with the children. In those fields there are enormous lime trees that during the flowering season you can pick the flowers and then make infusions. The noise is phenomenal, on hot days you cool off in its crystal clear waters.’

  Pina de Ebro has something for everyone who enjoys the architecture of Spanish pueblos.  It has the tiny lanes, on which houses have been rebuilt for generations without a care for the needs of the modern motorist.  We have the pathways which have been tiled over but once were dirt tracks.  We have the modern suburban developments of low rise houses and 80s hopefully aspiring shacks.  First all, however, we have a park. One thing we noticed, especially with a small boy in tow, was the number of parks with interesting play equipment.  This is because, in Spain, people seem to like children.  This does make them a semi-public property and people feel free to indulge them with sweetmeats and pass comments. ‘I think sucking thumbs makes children look ugly’ said one elderly woman.’ My Spanish for ‘well desiccated prune face, no one asked you’ deserted me.  The play equipment is in the Plaza Pilarin Artigas.  Honestly I’ve looked and was giving u...
