Black pudding with onion jam


 This Blog attempts to be light and fluffy in a world short of both of these essential qualities for life.  Ut us also, usually, written a few days ahead to allow for sudden time issues which will not preclude the walk but will the research and photography.  As such it is rarely current.   With the news that over 150 people have died in the current floods I think we need to pause a bit the tragedy that has hit  Spain,



Today is another day to marvel at how, even in the midst of it all, this place does manage handkerchief sized pieces of flattish ground.  The road creeps through the passable places amd has a few houses stuck it or in a near road orbit.







El Escondite exists as a name but has no reviews or website.  Camping Luanda has both.   https://www.campinglunada.com/ This is, they claim, the wildest corner of Cantabria.  They have a menu which offers Black pudding with onion jam, Galician style octopus and House Cake.  Wines vary from 6.5 euros for a young house rioja to 17 for a Duero from the Quintana Roo estates.



Two days ago Mariela was one star happy.  ‘The place with beautiful landscapes. There are no electrical outlets for all the lots and if it rains it is muddy many days, the lots are very sloping. There is only cold water and a bar’   Two weeks ago Joao was more chuffed ‘We loved the cheek with homemade potatoes, the cheesecake and the pastel pasiega! Everyone very friendly. Thank you!’




By it is the Ambulatorio San Roque de Riomiera.  Google says this general practitioner has a single review.  Andi says ‘Coconuts itch me’



With that we will continue our 80m climb and end for the day.

Mini Pieces of Supposed tuna

  Pina de Ebro has something for everyone who enjoys the architecture of Spanish pueblos.  It has the tiny lanes, on which houses have been rebuilt for generations without a care for the needs of the modern motorist.  We have the pathways which have been tiled over but once were dirt tracks.  We have the modern suburban developments of low rise houses and 80s hopefully aspiring shacks.  First all, however, we have a park. One thing we noticed, especially with a small boy in tow, was the number of parks with interesting play equipment.  This is because, in Spain, people seem to like children.  This does make them a semi-public property and people feel free to indulge them with sweetmeats and pass comments. ‘I think sucking thumbs makes children look ugly’ said one elderly woman.’ My Spanish for ‘well desiccated prune face, no one asked you’ deserted me.  The play equipment is in the Plaza Pilarin Artigas.  Honestly I’ve looked and was giving u...
