Sweet or salty. The girls are lovely.’
It is probably a Santander history today but before we get to that, a baker.
The Panaderia Peter and Pan gets 4.3 stars from almost 800 reviews. http://panaderiapeterypan.es/ Their Rye loaf is claimed to be energetic and digestive - ideal fro the sporty and those with anaemia, hypertension and arteriosclerosis. To quote the website ‘THIN AND CRISPY CRUST | TIGHT AND CONSISTENT CRUM | NO ADDITIVES | 100% NATURAL | CARVED INTO PEAK SHAPES The house's specialty. Baked with love. Ideal to accompany everyday dishes. It is a bread that stands the test of time well.’ Yesterday Estibaliz said ‘I usually go to have coffee and it is super delicious. Lots of variety to choose from to eat something whether sweet or salty. The girls are lovely.’
So first the olden days. They have very old bits. The Historical first mention is a reference in a 11th century document to the founding of a 10th century monastery. By the 12th century their were two settlements, each surrounded by walls. A cathedral was begun in the 13th century and by the 15th century it had 4-5000 people living here.
We are passing some geography and the Comandancia de la Guardia Civil de Cantabria. https://www.guardiacivil.es/es/institucional/directorio/cantabria/cmda__cantabria.html It has reviews. Jose went to talk guns and was impressed. ‘I have had to make some queries at the Weapons Intervention of the Civil Guard of Santander, and I have to highlight the good treatment, professionalism and kindness that I have received from the Agent who has assisted me and clearly explained all the doubts. Thank you very much and good service.’ I have nothing from less than a year as ‘Postings is currently turned off.’
Charles V landed here in 1552. It seems to have generally grown. Like all self respecting Spanish cities it was sacked by the French in 1808. The 19th century saw many developments. A lighthouse in 11839, a market building [1842] and the bank of Santander as established in 1857, by which time 29,000 lived here.
Train Stations are rarely loved and Cazona is not exception at 3.6 stars. Iatzadanyl may express the view of some. ‘They could take care of this station a little…’ Given I have been a bit delayed in scheduling and this is being written just before it goes out I can tell you the next train is from Santander to Cabezon de la Sal. It leaves at 11.18am It is a pleasant trip. We have done it a few times. The 11.36am is going in the opposition direction.
Lets end the day near a hospital and with the news that a tram service began in 1875, by 1900 the population was over 54,000 and in 1893 the Cabo Machicharco exploded in the harbour.
Currently the is 14oc. By 2pm it will be 21oc and sunny.
